It's not just an interface it can be used as a standalone pre amp or you can use it as an effects unit. You dont have to use Pro Tools LE either. Seeing as guys are paying $1999 for another digital preamp $899 doesnt seem that out there to me.

if you dont use PT you don't get access to the editor ( Plug in window) and your missing out on it's real strength..

paying $900 as a standalone guitar box is really steep and basically not taking advantage of the product at all...

Like I said there are guys paying over double that for a stand alone guitar box so in relative terms it's not too steep but then again thats up tp you to decide.

I'm not PT user myself but there are things in the works that will give you these functions with other DAWs but that said it comes with PT so I dont mind opening PT to make my patches. I dont get how opening PT to make some patches is any different than if they had given you a stand alone editor for your PC that you would have to use. All that said I'll use what I want to record like I always do or I may us PT to record my guitar tracks if I find I like that better so I think it will be nice to have options. I really dont see this as a big deal but then again YMMV.

Interesting. I hadn't heard about 11 Rack.

I have new gear I'm still dialing in so I'm not in any acquisition rush.

But I'm interested in the V-Pedal which hasn't been released. They had some quality issues with their V-System, so if/when its released I'd wait a few months to see how things shake out.

That said, I am very excited for what's to come in the next few years. I still think for someone deciding between a high-end tube amp and a digital solution like Eleven Rack or Axe-fx, the tube amp is the better choice.
Wait 5 years and something better will come along than the axe or eleven rack, but a Bogner Ecstasy for example is what the digital devices are trying to be, plus in a few years these current preamps will be much more affordable.

However a big win for the digital preamps is the versatility, and for someone who already has a sweet amp, they are a great addition to a rig. Just my opinion
