Emminence vs V30 speakers?

I am about to test a bunch of cabs. Just wondering what people's thoughts are on these. What sort of tonal differences should I expect?

I have a man-o-war and it is great :rock: best speaker that I have used so far, and I have gone through a few of them. I might also be getting a wizard this weekend.
 
i like them. the Governor would be the closest sounding to a V30, but will handle more power without farting out.


for old school rock to early metal i'll take old school green backs or Webers, but for the newer balls out heavy shit with lots of power i'll take Eminence over Celestion.


would love to hear a Herbert through a full stack of Governors and Swamp Thangs mixed.


if there's a common thing people don't like about some/several of the Eminence models, is that they have big time output in the high treble range. i put the dampening material inside my Eminence cabs like Bogner does and helps clean up some of that high treble harshness.
 
I have 2 Eminence Govners in my 2x12 cabinet. I use it only for home use and so I wanted speakers that sound good and wouldn't cost that much.
I really like them! I don't think they are harsh at all!
(I hated my previous Legend GB12...)
I also heard the Red Fangs and I was very impressed with those, too. Totally different speaker, though. (Alnico)

i've been doing some testing lately.....
my one frontloaded diezel 4x12 has v30's and the other has diezel eminence custom speakers.
i knew i always preferred the tone in my Eminence speakers more and i use the v30 cab on the opposite side of the stage so i never really hear it up close.

when we loaded into our jam space the other day my singer threw my vh4 ontop of the v30 cab and and the next practice i thought what the heck i'll use this cab today just to see how it sounds.

immediately my bass player and drummer gave me a weird look when i started playing some riffs "dude, why does your guitar sound so thin today? what's up with your amp? the sound is brittle, can you turn up? did you change something?"

i took my ear plugs out and listened.....and they were right, thin, brittle wimpy, and terrible bass response....i checked all my cables and connections to make sure that nothing was amiss and that the only difference was my speakers...
i had no idea v30's sounded that bad.... so i switched cabs and went back to my trusty old deizel eminence customs cab. and WOW . boom huge sound, articulate, warm, cutting and amazing bass.
everyone in the band heard it as well.
it makes me want to sell my v30s and get more of those custom diezel speakers.
i seriously love them.
 
I have a FL 2x12 Diezel cab that I bought last year. It has the Diezel Eminence speakers in it as well. I like these far better than the Mesa 2x12 cab that I was using which had V-30s in it. Not a bad cab at all....just wasn't what I liked.

I also put a Diezel Eminence into my ISO cab for recording and it doesn't disappoint at all.

What I like is the clarity and punch in the sound. I find it more pleasing to my ears at least.
 
What are these Diezel Eminence speakers you are talking about?? And where can I get me some??
 
If you have a VH4, Herbert, Einstein, Vh4S you need a front loaded g12K100 speaker of a rear loaded Hemp speaker.... ;)
 
I have 6 Eminence speakers from Diezel that I removed from a 4x12 and a 2x12. They are collecting dust in the garage and two being used as doorstops. Those things totally sucked to me. Plus, they cut the hell out of your hands handling them. My next cab will be loaded up with Celestion G12-100's......growl :rock:
