These guys fantasize about protecting their stash/property in such situations. Won't take much to covertly scout their compound, and pop them while they're not expecting.

I have salt marshes on three sides, one road in; one of my hobbies is long range shooting, including at night with a FLIR system. (edit: also have a few good spots in the marshes solid ground surrounded by marsh grasses and good visibility out...except for the mosquitos and gators.)
