When I was looking, the Boxster, the Honda S2000 and the Z4 were on the short list. I am close to 6'1" and the Z was the only one I felt comfortable in. As luck would have it, I much preferred the way the BMW made it's power which is lower RPM and torque. The other 2 you need to wind up a bit. It took me a while to find a manual shift Z. The new ones are all automatics
Miatas are supposed to have decent room as well.

In my experience, you don't have a ton of opportunities in the sort of four banger turbos that you have to wind up to get the goods.

The cars I owned and loved in the past were a 280zx turbo I drove in high school, and a 2nd gen mitsubishi eclipse. I drove a couple MGs and Triumphs in the past that were a ton of fun, but tiny. I had a first gen RX7 for a short time but I don't want to deal with a rotary again.

I'm thinking something like the z4 or cayman with a manual would scratch that itch but I have limited experience and honestly just need to try more of them out

If you look for mid-2000s Zs pay attention to engine. There's a 2.5, 3.0I and 3.0SI. Mine was the 3.0SI which made the most power next to the M series. They are in-line 6 though, not 4.
