ESP E-2 Series - are these the new LTDs?

So wait, I'm confused.

Is the current E-II what was know as the ESP Standard line? Or the LTD Elite line?

All of the above. LTD Elite became E-II. It was the standard series before that.

Ok I'm super clueless about the ESP line so please school me.

Back then, there were only 2 lines, am I correct? ESP and the low-end, probably MIC or MIK, LTD.

Then they introduced the LTD Elite line, right? So were the LTD Elite guitars MIJ? Or were they still MIC or MIK?

If the LTD Elite were MIJ guitars, then what was the difference between say a LTD Elite M-II and a ESP M-II? Other than pricing of course.

The way I've read it, the ESP standard series was re-badged LTD Elite so the ESP name could be used for only custom shop and signature models.

The LTD Elite name went over like a turd in the punch bowl so the name was changed to E-II.

I feel they screwed the pooch with that one.
There was nothing wrong w/ ESP custom shop/ESP standard series/LTD for the international market
and ESP original series/Navigator/Edwards/grassroots for the Japanese Market exclusively.
But who am I to say, I studied public health and not marketing.

I agree. ESP product line was always really easy to navigate. They made Standard & custom guitars. Their LTD range was their budget range, made in Korea. Their Edwards range were the standard-quality patent infringement shapes for the Japanese market. Boom.

The old ESP Standard Series became LTD Elite, then E-II. Those are equivalent in build location and quality. Only custom shop made and USA made guitars have the ESP branding now.

Anyways, here's the break down:

ESP Original Series and Signature Series: Made in Japan, custom shop quality production models
ESP USA: Made in North Hollywood
E-II: MIJ, used to be the Standard Series or LTD Elite
LTD Deluxe and LTD Signature Series (600 models Made in Korea
LTD and 200-model LTD Sigs: Made in Indonesia or China
