I woke up to find this on my facebook page from Joe Bonamassa today:

"Honesty the people on the Gear Page need to chill out on slagging me. I am tired of people taking cheap shots. It especially seems to come from that blog. Here is my advice.. put a band together.. Tour and walk a mile in my shoes.. Oh thats right.. you cant because you just talk and not do really much of anything positive. I don't mean to put down all the folks there just the morons who take cheap shots."
LINK?

That guitar playing and sound in that video is just liquid gold!

+1 .....I love that song!

He should have a thicker skin especially considering that for every 1 dick with a negative remark there are 100 totally willing to kiss his ass literally.
And you got a problem with this?

JB is extremely gifted, talented and a massive writer, creator and guitar player. Joe has written and produced more incredible material than most of us at the tender age of 33.
I dont think anyone is questioning his ability to play the guitar, I just think he over reacted to the tgp thing as its probably just a minority of people who said anything. He didnt come off that well in his facebook post is all , And whats with the whole "havent walked a mile in my shoes" line, Is there some tragedy or terrible hardship that he overcame that I am not aware of ? He would have come across better with just a quick mention or better yet say nothing at all.

he needs to learn to ignore it and move on.....everyone in media gets bashed, get used to it....blow it off!

Check out @6.00

I can't work out whether he has a good sense of humor, or he just doesn't like people slagging him off (but who does?).

Either way... Good for him to slap back a little. Not that I understand why he would care...\

EDIT:

Decided to have a look at his facebook page... Found this:

"Here is a good dare. I dare VH1 or MTV to play BCC's Man in the Middle video or Rolling Stone Magizine USA to acknowledge my existence in anyway. What's the worst that could happen? Maybe people would discover something new and tragically unhip. oh te humanity. BCC 2 came out this week and is doing great. Thank you so much for all the support."

His tone is awesome, like an improved version of Eric Johnson's.
Precisely.

Liquid gold is right, that tone is great and his playing is excellent. Not my style per se, but you can tell he's gifted with axe in hand

Yah, I read that he was born with an extra pinky on both hands. They had no cartilage and therefore rendered useless for applying them to his music. They had to amputate both pinkies and that scared him mentally and emotionally for life. Just think if they matured and became fully functional and what Joe could have done musically on his guitar with 12 gingers.

Everyone has and is entitled to an opinion. I'm shocked he bothers to read that stuff but I can't disagree with him either. The tone has gotten meaner at TGP, especially from the cork sniffer crowd there.

It's pointless to get riled up over folks who spend more time posting than they do practicing, or playing themselves.

I don't think it's worth it anymore to get worked up about idiots circle-jerking on internet forums.

I dipped my toes into some of the crap at TGP by just innocently asking them why were there so many Dumble amp threads in the Effects forum, and I got shot down in flames. A moderator virtually called me out as a hypocrite (of which I wasn't, I posted a thread about amp discussions in the Effects forum, not a thread about amps in the Effects forum) and said I was inappropriate, and I tactfully questioned it further, I got the impression he spat back at me "you dumb cunt"! WTF is that? And also I was numerously reported about the thread. For goodness sake...

So bugger it, I'm not get involved in that crap anymore. I just visit TGP as much as I do at Rig-Talk and Huge Racks Inc., and just give and take what I like from each- which 95% of the time is guitar effects research. It's hard sometimes to hold back my attitudes towards certain musical styles and associated trends etc., but I'm trying to stay cool about it.

Most of the time when I'm posting on any guitar forum, is when I am away from home outside of work hours but on a business trip. I basically miss not playing my guitar at home! So I start pipe-dreaming about guitar effects etc. and get inquisitive, which is why I get on a roll in some of my posts about effects etc. When I am back home, I barely even browse a guitar gear forum.

TGP is the new PRS Forum from what I remember. I was a member there back in the late 90s. It was full of cork-sniffers who thought that their ability to write big checks somehow made their opinion more valid or factual than those who could not. I had a pair of Custom 24s that I had finally acquired after 15 years of gigging. Some of the guys who ruled the roost over there had a dozen PRS' (including my dream guitar -- PRS Rosewood Ltd) but could barely play, much less do it professionally. Which is fine -- but they talked-down to working pros who didn't have their deep pockets. It was absurd. I've been a member of TGP for four years and hardly ever go there. Most of the "in crowd" there seems to worship single-channel amps and thinks that the need for amp R&D stopped friggin four decades ago. And yet, many said members worship at the altar of Fractal Audio and anything less is considered junk.

Anyways... Rig Talk is my kind of site as I was a child of the 80s and there's NO doubt that I identify with this crowd more than the crowd at TGP. To each his or her own, but the atmosphere over there interests me very little anymore.

BTW... my other favorite music forum is the Seymour Duncan Forum. Smaller, but a very nice community that's a mish-mash of people of varying ages, backgrounds, styles, etc. There doesn't seem to be the usual cork-sniffing over there as young noobs with beginner's gear are tolerated as well as stuffy old cork-sniffers. It's kind of like the local friendly pub.

I don't visit TGP. But, why would anyone slag Joe? Not that he is anyone I would spend much time listening to, but he is an accomplished musician and has earned some respect.

Now he has obviously read the thread that ensued and tweeted about it.

I suppose you gotta do something on the tour bus...

It's slightly ironic how the longer this thread runs, the more it mimics RT's characterization of TGP...in this thread we have love for JB's tone, disdain for JB's tone, JB's tone is better than Eric Johnson, JB should have thicker skin, JB is justified in calling out TGP, JB should lower ticket prices, JB can't control ticket prices...we even say TGP is "spewing with negativity"...guys, it's the same thing here. NO different.

Haha. I wonder if there is a thread on TGP about JB's comments. :D

I wonder if there's threads on TGP or other forums about Rig-Talk.
I saw one about "The people on Rig Talk" on a forum who's name is not important right now ... HRI. The link the person at HRI gave was to a member here with 3 post total. The individual from HRI had deduced from one of the 3 post that "The people on Rig Talk" are "idiots". I actually found the thread a bit amusing.

There are plenty of good and bad people on all the forums..... in fact a lot of the same people I see on all the forums.

This forum being a "80's" forum or the TGP being a "D-style amp" forum is only the illusion of hand-full of people. They are made up of a lot more people than that.

How ironic with the 'red head' talk.....

His amp on this was a bright red 100W EL34 JB100 called 'Red Boy' on everything except the clean solo which is a low power blackface Fender. I'm proud to be a part of that. It's my favourite recorded guitar tone in existance ever and I built the amp. He realised exactly what I heard in my head when I designed it for him. THe lead tone had to be very forward and sad sounding. His design spec. was 'an emotional human vocal type lead tone'.
