What amp/guitar combo do you remember being "magical" for you and/or inspiring? Why was it magical/inspiring? Tubes and overtones? Dynamics? Response to pick attack? Controlled feedback with blooming overtones?

For me my current Diezel Einstein is close to magical due to the super heavy rhythms and liquid sustain leads (all in one channel).

Also, JCM 800's I've had in the past were great for hard rock/blues. Mixing my Rivera and Marshall was inspiring for hard rock tones as well.

anybody else?

I remember going to a guy's house to buy a Carvin Legacy head via Craigslist. He had it paired with the Legacy V30 cab. I plugged in, and I "gel'd" with it the moment I started playing. Just started ripping some licks I never really thought I was capable of. After 5 seconds I was sold on it but kept jamming for about 5 or 10 minutes.

Just something about how clear and responsive it was to my pick attack that made me love it. Unfortunately I ended up not keeping it because it didn't fit the style of music my band was playing. Plus it had to be damn loud to sound as good as it does. Dumb move for selling it.

Bogner Uberschall. Hadn't heard anything like it and the sound in the room was glorious through the Uberkab. It inspired me to put a quick demo together that I believe is still on the Bogner site, several years later.

never played thru a bogner but i bet it sounds close to Jerry Cantrell's big sound. darker, heavier sounding amps I guess.

has anyone been scared by an amp? My LP thru my Diezel Einy is pretty scary sounding...

My first, and every other pittbull since I started playing them. Fast, tight, the feel, the tone....I just love them.

The diezel Herbert.

The dar tuzzia and fbm.

I remember when I had this Jcm800 50 watt combo. Everyone tried to buy it from me. The thing had a ferocious gain to it that I could never quite figure out why. Unfortunately it was stolen from me. Twas a sad day.

Diezel Herbert.

First time I played it, I was blown away by it, not only by the way it sounded, but the incredible features and build quality only Diezel delivers. Multiple loops, mute function that blinks to let you know, all LED's, everything MIDI controlled, unique mini switches, great looking amp, and super easy to bias. My first Diezel was like buying a Rolls Royce after owning a bunch of grocery getters.

My Uberschall Rev2 did it for me too. Best amp I ever played for my styles.

do you have any clips yet of your wall of sound diesel rig?

Have tried hundreds of amps....Happened to me only a couple times only: Wizard MC 100 and Diezel Herbert

first taste of the mojave peacemaker was a fetal position thumb sucking deal

and the first two rock opal i played was humongous BF clean meets SRV at robben ford's crib moment

those two amps would be a killer 2 amp rig

deliverance d60/carol ann would be another deadly pair in the same vein

a cameron modded bassman

herbie w/d rig

old 66 bassman

first eggie tol100 i played

zachman's mark III simulcoli the day he bought it new

mine wasn't anything "cool" in terms of boutique stuff but after going through things like marshalls and laneys I went into a shop to try a blackstar thing (solid state modeller of some kind) there happened to be a jet city jca 22h there and I thought I would just plug a tube amp in to compare the BS to ... it was pretty much everything I was listening for without even turning any knobs so I bought it on the spot and haven't stopped loving it (been over 2yrs now) it still puts a smile on my face every day

Years ago at GC I plugged a beautiful 335 into a Mesa Boogie F-50 head into a Mesa 4x12. Hit a new chords and they bloomed with crazy harmonics right off the bat. I was stunned. The most perfect pure rock tone. Amazing. Never liked one since.
Also the first time I cranked the master on an SLO100.

1st Stereo rig.

Diezel Einstein into 2x12 as dry. MKIII into 2, 1x12's as the power section for my wets. I think I called every buddy I had played with in the last 5 yrs to tell them how and why I just shit my pants.

My Grosh Set Neck '59 Spec + BE-100 + Bogner V30 Straight 4x12 = MAGIC

Massive and tight rhythm crunch, searing lead tone and beautiful clean when you turn guitar volume down ... nothing like it in all the years I have spent playing.

For me it was the first time I plugged into an H&K Triamp. It's so dynamic and rounded. Great bass, smooth top end, and I love the way they cut. I've been a convert ever since and the only amps I've bought since then are the Tubemeisters for lower volume gigs.
