Ever had a magical amp experience???

When I first got the colossus I let it warm up, plugged in and just heard the most pure tube tone I had ever heard. Huge bottom, but balanced and sweet and tight but full and just an amazing amp, build quality, layout. Before the rhodes all I had was a 6505+ and then a xxxII (jsx). You can just hear how much cleaner your signal path is playing through a rhodes oppose to the peavey stuff and just a whole different world of amp goodness. So yea first time hearing a Colossus.

yep. it was a jcm800 100watt...not sure of the version or format...it was like in 98 when i had no clue about tube amps really beyond what i thought i knew, which was shit.

played a dimeslime (one of the better ones with the lawrence and duncan in it from the factory), thought it was the guitar, took it home, played it through my rig, hated it....went back within 2 hours to snag the amp, and it was gone.... i still regret that one! man that amp.....wow. i dont know if it was modded, or what, but it didnt sound like any jcm800 i've ever heard or played since.

I bought and sold quite a few amps before I even knew what I liked or what sounded like what. About a year ago I finally dialed my ear in to really know what gain structures and frequencies I always tried dialing into every amp I've ever played and sought out a single amp that would be the best at this and also have the features I needed.
I looked high and low and after many months of research I found the perfect amp for me. The much fabled "Sound in my head" amp that fit my playing style and my ear like it was designed for me.
It was a really great moment when I first plugged in and no matter what settings I tried it was just different flavors of me coming out of the speakers.

Wizard MC50 that Michael Burns owned
Wizard MC100 II
Mesa Triple Recto Multi-Watt
Suhr Custom T gold sparkle

When you say "overtones, dynamic and pick response" I imagine NMV Marshall with right 4x12 cab :-D

And if you say "magic" I remember tracking VHT Ultralead...The magic was that on record it sounds 2 time better. )))

My 50 watt Two Rock Sensor, through my Bog Ubercab. That shit is magic every time I plug in. I'm not talking about that fag-jazz magic that is normally associated with the brand either ! For me, and what Ilike to play , (Hendrix , Trower , 70's Hard Rock, and rude rocking versions of Blues standards ) it is the perfect amp. May not be for everybody, but everybody should at least try one out if they get a chance.

what amp was it?

The second time I played a Dual Rectifier I got to turn the master volume up to somewhere around 2:00.

I've had many since then but that day still stands out in my mind.
