Everybody likes a grab n go head that can deliver the goods!

Quick thoughts - for the quintessential 80's hard rock tone. Compared to my Slo30 dialed in correctly it is very close and in it's own way just as good. I just got rid of the Friedman PT20 which is a really good head. for me a LP with it sounds great but the mids were lacking. This led me to have to dial back the bass and turn the mids up so much that it got thin..

On the LBX you have a resonance control that is very useful. It adds girth without killing mids. This allowed me to add some mids a 1/2 click over noon. V1

The LBX version 1 all dials at noon save the volume Blue ch only looking for that perfect VH on steroids meets Ratt Dokken Scorpions and Steel panther!
Plan is to use it live this Sat! Last note is unlike many lunchbox heads it sounds good at 'lower band volumes' loud setting within the Loud, very loud, and your mama would slap you so loud spectrum! :hys:

I dig it man! Thanks for sharing. Have you compared this version to the other LBX's, including the Stealth? Also, how punchy can it get at this low wattage?

Yes and for this tone this model is 100% better. Less compressed and the right amount of gain without being compressed. -to my ears.
For those who do the doom and other flavors of modern metal they may not agree.

Cool. Would be ideal to have the concentric pots for gain & volume on this version, but ah well. Thanks for sharing. I'll have to keep an eye out for one of these.

Agreed, however, the red ch is too over the top so I live on Blue:
Boosted with an Eq vol bump for solos and pre amp bypassed for clean tones. It's all there.

I agree about the red channel..seems the second version would be a better choice because it comes with a dedicated clean along with the blue channel and has the dual-concentric gain and volume controls dual for independent control of each channel.

Does V2 with the clean & blue channel have the same blue channel? Or did they tweak it from V1?

That would be a hard No. All subsequent version have more compression. Who buys an EVH any model for a clean? I understand the 100w version have great clean channels but your going to lug that puppy around for it's clean ch??

Yeah, I think I read that somewhere. So basically, I'd be buying a LBX V1 for the blue channel only. I'd run it like you, boosted for my harder rock or metal.

And with the 4cm you can bypass the pre amp to get a clean ch if needed. It has 'that' tone' :sneaky:

I'd have to actually to hear both amps in the same room with the same guitar with the same player and 0 effects before I believed the "more compression" line. I can't say if its true or not because I've never done that.

Go here---> https://www.evhgear.com/gear/amplifiers/head

Three versions are available..a LBX, LBXII and LBX-S.

I generally don't like YT comparison videos because a lot of whatever they are trying to compare sounds the same to me but not this one..a LBXII vs LBX-S..definitely a difference and I can't say I hear "compression" in the LBXII but YMMV..

There was a shoot out that guy Kyle did between the 1 and the 2 and they both sounded awful. He usually has good vids. It's pretty good tones.
As soon as I see guys turning the bass way up and mids down I'm out. Sweetwater has Doug Rappoport with Dave sitting there demoing a BE deluxe and he has the bass turned way up killing the mids.

So many tones available and each one has different tones in their head. My DNA has that classic 80's Scorpions meets Dio Dokken Ratt and the mighty VH firmly imprinted in there! I know how to dial it in and I hear when others achieve it.
