All my cabs have Celestions as I like the vibe I get from Celestions and have used for years - my ears know them best.

Many years ago I used WGS ET-65/Vet 30 and like fit but I found the Celestion maybe a bit fuller, had more depth or something? Hard to recall.

I need to watch mneg so I was thinking I may try ET65 ET/90 in my Bogner 412.
My other 412 has Redbacks and V30s, then my 212 cabs have Redbacks, CL80s and K100s.

Curious if any of you have opinions on thr ET65 and ET90.

I run a pair of et65s with a Soldano hr25, great speaker. Super warm and a good match for the Soldano.

I also have a wgs Blackhawk hp in a 112 tone ring and love that cab and speaker. If can be debated on close the wgs speakers are to what they are advertised against, but all 3 speakers I have are great.

Thanks.
I used to think some of the WGS were considered dull sounding but I want to try. For the price, why not
Cheaper than Celestion and Eminence.

I wonder what WGS speakers would be a good replacement in my Marshall 1960BHW Cab. I'm not fully sold on the G12H30 Heritage that are in it now.

I’m a Celestion Greenback guy but I have vet 30s in a jcm800 clone combo and also in my iso cab, I think they sound great

I am contemplating the ET65/ET90 mix in my Bogner 412. 65 is warm with good lower mids, while the 90 has more highs and lows.

Favorite Celestion are Redbacks, CL80s, K100s, UK V30s and G12-65s.

I tried Creambacks but went back to Redbacks.

Years ago I had Lynchbacks but found the Creamback M-65 to be fuller, but still preferred Redbacks.

I've used Greenbacks before but prefer the bigness and punch of heavy magnet and higher wattage speakers.

I have both an ET65 and ET90 and prefer the ET90 out of the two. Both have the overall same voicing, but the ET90 has slightly extended highs & lows and to me is more full sounding. Both pair well with a Retro 30. I have an ET90/Retro 30 mix in a 212 cab that sounds pretty good.

My favorite speaker ever is the WGS Invader. I also like their Green Beret and Reaper. I didn't care of any of the others in the British line... I think I tried them all.

I have the WGS Veteran 30 and ET 65 in a 2x12 which blends well. More smooth than the Mesa and Soldano cabs.

My Two Rock 4x10 has ET-10s which are the 10 inch version of the ET-65s. Strong mid range, articulate but pleasant highs, and a MUCH stronger low end than you’d expect.

I also used the Vet 30 in a Suhr closed back cab for a while, which sounded amazing.

It's funny, I'm really open to trying all sorts of things but with speakers there just rarely seems to be an occasion that Celestions aren't the best option.

I mean Fane F70's are cool, or old Jensens for some stuff but Celestion in my book is literally the voice of rock n' roll. With so many models, decent resale and how ubiquitous they are it's hard to justify investing in other options. Probably different in the US though, non-Celestion options in Australia are pretty limited and usually pricey.

They are the most popular speakers for a reason, but for me the old Fane Crescnedo’s and JBL’s are also up there as some of the best imo. Not cheap though

I’ve got a pair of WGS Veteran 30’s in a box downstairs. I don’t care for them. They don’t sound bad by any stretch, but to me they didn’t have any character. There’s something in Clelestions that other speakers don’t have (to my ears). I’m not sure exactly what it is, but the best I can describe it is the WGS had no teeth or bite which the Celestions have in spades. This is only my opinion, I know they work for some guys. I’ve only tried the Veteran 30’s, not any other models.

That’s not a bad assessment. I blend celestions in a 2nd 2x12 with my WGS and for more mellow tunes it seems to work well. If I was playing angrier/grittier (Alice in Chains) type music all the time, I don’t think the WGS would work by themselves. They work for steely Dan stuff (got FM in my head as an earworm) but I would say cranked WGS wouldn’t work for certain sounds. As I said before, more mellow.

ET65s do a nice job mimicking a G12 65. They just don’t hold up like a Celestion does, under high volume
What happens when you crank the et65s? Never really gotten a chance to push the et65s. Last time I was in a band on guitar, that cab had cl80s, which did sound great pumping away.

I put a pair of them into an SLO combo I had about 6 years ago. Sounded great until I hit about 4-5 on the master; they started to woof out a bit…farty and lost definition

I played a 4x12 with WGS and it sucked beyond words. It sounded like the cab was made out of cardboard and the speakers were made from coke cans. It was just atrocious. The best part was, my friend was like, “sounds sssssick, right?” I said, “no words bro, no words….” His response, “deeewd, told ya!” He still thought it sounded, as he called it, “dope.”

Then I played a 2x12 with a Celestine and a wgs and that was ok.

Any idea which WGS they were? I don't like the ET65s, Vet 30 or Retro 30s. Though I need to try them mixed with others I like.
