Trickle down Econ never works, and it never will. It's a complete Facade that "When we cut corporate taxes, more jobs will be created!" Total bullshit. Corporations say 'Thank You!' hire a token few and BANK all the rest. I realized this as I got older and realized what really happens. I have family who have been higher ups in the corporate world, and have laughed at the trickle down BS. They and their management co workers laugh all the way to the bank.
But, the economy has been booming for a few years now, and continues to boom...no one is getting free money anymore afaik so it's not that. The inflation problem is easy..supply and demand. There is NO supply; hence demand increases therefore prices increase. This is super simple...it's not even an arguable fact.

Also, you your previous point on Congress being corrupt. I think the income gap started growing in 79-80, not so much as a result of trickle down economics but the kicking of the door wide open for lobbyists and soft money

In 1979, the Supreme Court granted an exemption to get-out-the vote and grassroots voter registration drives, creating what has become known as the soft-money loophole; soft money was a way in which interests could spend money on behalf of candidates without being restricted by federal law.

So, what works? I think is more complicated than just taxation.

un-employment doesn't determine a robust economy or a living wage.

It's basically a Casino Economy. Something that Finland had back in the 80's. When 90's drew in and CCCP crashed Finland's GDP took a 13% nosedive and unemployment rose from 3,5% to 18,9% :--D.

People spend money they don't have on things they don't need. Have fun with all that debt on credit when banks commit seppuku(for the 100th time) and crash the economy.

I can only imagine what happens globally when the bubble bursts in US.

A friend pointed this out to me a few yrs ago (he thinks I'm more Libertarian than anything else) first and foremost a flat 10-12% tax for everyone across the board, no tax shelters etc etc. No more hiding from your taxes...but no more 35% or more tax brackets either. I think it starts there. Then, work on legalizing pot in every state...which is a loaded statement because there are dangers of driving or working under the influence etc....I know there's more to it than just taxing like you say but that's where I'd start.

Or when China and others stop buying US Treasury bonds.
Bill Clinton handed W. Bush a surplus with which W. {again} cut taxes on Corporations, raised taxes on middle class & tripled the deficit.
At which Obama fixed the economy after W. Bush crashed it in 2008 while lowering the deficit by 2015 also while fighting against a GOP controlled Congress at which time orange man came in and [once again] you guessed it CUT TAXES ON CORPS/RAISED TAXES ON MIDDLE CLASS & TRIPLED THE DEFICIT.
Many of the same architects of dumpy dons tax policies were the same clowns that worked for Reagan & both Bush's.
"Tax cut" just means someone else somewhere is paying for it.

I agree 100% a flat tax would be fair and could seal up all those loop holes that people, who should pay more but don't, use. Also as far as weed legalization goes, more than half the country supports it and it's shown that other drug usage goes down in areas which recreational legalization.

We have spent way too much money and time on building up the prison and military industrial complex. Also If you look at wealth distribution the disparity has grown obscenely against the average American since the Reagan days. Most people think they they are in better shape than they actually are. The actual middle class is almost non existent. If the government really gave a shit about all of us it would work to improve life for all of us.

In the early 1900's the US ARMY did an experiment in Panama with soldiers on R & R to smoke pot instead of drink alcohol because of disciplinary problems.
At the end of the study the ARMY concluded that the Soldiers that toked up had no murders & no barfights and recommended that they be allowed to use pot. That was 120 some years ago.
Never got past the DOD brass.
Mary Todd Lincoln Abe's wife, her family was wealthy from Hemp plantations. Most clothing back then was made of hemp.
Alot of the Military clothing & web gear of World War I & II were made of hemp along with ships ropes.

Again, it’s not as straight forward as taxation. At the end of the Clinton admin was the popping of the the “.com” bubble

Trickle down economics is a complete fantasy and has been disproven by every single reputable entity that has ever studied it.

Hell it’s obvious to even the casual observer. The ENTIRE game of the super rich is to get so much money that they never touch their principal holdings. Instead they build enough wealth that the residuals of that wealth generate enough for them to live off the money their money makes for them. They never put that money back into the economy. Ever. At BEST, that money goes to invest in companies that by default operate on the principal of minimizing expenditure at ALL COSTS including supporting as few jobs as possible and paying workers the absolute minimum required to keep a head count.

In short, the poor spend what they get on goods and services needed to live. The rich hoard the money they make, never spending a dime of it, so that their obscene wealth sustains them on its own.

Trickle down economics is a sham. And even if you can’t admit the above is happening, just look at the ever expanding stratification of wealth in countries like the US. The rich always get even richer, the poor always get even poorer. If Trickle Down economics worked, that wouldn’t happen. There would still be social stratification but it would at least remain stable. It is not stable. At all.

Trickle Down Economics does not, and never has, happened.

In the USA, the top 1/10 of the top 1% own more wealth than the bottom 90%.TDE worked exactly as they planned…

Sony know what tax bracket your in, but for most of the middle and lower middle class saw tax cuts over the past 4 years.

the "cuts' were minute. Definitely want the refund.
And we need that money now more than ever. We scratch out a living anyway but were getting robbed.

I worked for the same company from 2012 to 2020. I owed every year until about 4 years ago and I’m not a big earner

I have no idea about your tax status but weve never [not] gotten a tax return until tax year 2017 and ive been a taxpayer since 1978.
