I put a set of these in my strat around 3:00 this afternoon. I'm just now putting my guitar down.............roughly 4 hours later

What do you like about them over the stock pickups?

At first I had the stock Robert Cray set in there. Don't know much about their specs. Sounded good but just a little too smooth and lacking some midrange for that nasty sounding Texas style blues. Came across as more of a jazzy sound to my ears. I also tried a few other bridge pups trying to make the strat something it wasn't meant to be (Dimarzio Virtual Solo and Duncan JB Jr.). Since then I went back to the stock Cray pups. Then today I threw in the Fat 50's and it was just what I was looking for. Sounds great in all the positions. I play a few gigs with some guys who play Texas Alt-Country and blues and these pups shine for that style. It is what a strat was meant to sound like IMO. But probably not for most guys on here.

I love my Am Dlx Strat, but never completely fell in love with the SCN pickups. I feel like they lack that twangy, punchy, signature strat sound. I'm not saying it's completely absent, but they are just a little too "modern" for lack of better terms. I think others on here have said the same. It's not that they're bad pickups, but just not ideal for what I'm looking for.

Hopefully Fender doesn't raise the price on these too: http://accessories.musiciansfriend.com/ ... sku=301613

I can do it this weekend. However, I feel the same way about the SCN's. I had 2 American Deluxe strats and thought they lacked the signature strat sound. I also had a Mahogany strat with Tex-Mex pups. The Fat 50's are not even comparable IMO. They deliver pure, twangy strat sound. And they are darn near as quiet as the SCN's![]()
