since i store my mojave half stack at church now, i have been using my fender scxd at home, set clean, with the pedal/rack/power engine to approximate my live wet/dry rig, and i gotta say it really sounds nice!

especially since i plug the xd speaker output into my tone tubbies h-bomb cab, which is a ***HUGE*** improvement over the built in fender speaker, and i mean HUGE. but my daughter can still jack the combo for her lessons/practicing and carry the tiny xd in one hand.

and since the xd is lower wattage, and has a line out which you can use without interrupting the primary speaker output, i can feed my gforce/wet cab without having to use the hotplate = less hassle.

and since it has pretty nice built in effects, i can add just a taste of internal reverb/delay to the dry amp which i like.

the end result is great true fender clean tone as the core for my clean patches, and the bb preamp and the carl martin plexitone seems to love the fender and give me two shades of overdriven tone.

Coolness.

Gotta get around to trying mine with some cabs I have lying around.

super champ xd is a great little amp to have around, I find myself playing it more then amps I own costing ten times as much

That sounds awesome! do you have clips?
i just tried to do something but it was pretty low volume so not sure if it's going to convey the coolness or not

the hbomb is perfect for this amp...the alnico has a very jensen p12n sparkle clean factor, and the ceramic is like a refined V30 for the dirty breakup, and the open back preserves the fender combo vibe.

yup-but throw it into a bigger openback cab and look out. the internal 10" speaker on mine sounds like harsh death compared to the hbomb. i'm having a hard time not using the hbomb every time i fire up the XD now.

upload done-but take caution; full blown unabashed 80's-bred "wahnkahrew" is in SESSION mate.

That's a great clip. I love your phrasing. Your congregation (not that it's "yours", but you get the point :) ) is very fortunate to have a player like you to enjoy.

thanks, but i'm the lucky one.
i get to play with ridiculous players and cool friends every week for an amazing God.

win!

i do wish i could practice as much as i did as kid, armed with what i know now, so i could play less sloppy/choppy.

Very Holdsworth tonewise, cool stuff Pat
can't deny my hero influences...always loved his and lane's tone-smooth but can get a horn-like brightness too when you hit it just so.
the amp puts out the goods yes?

i'd give a million bucks to have holdsy/lane/gambale's ability to just flow music. it never sounds like their thinking or running out of ideas. perfect phrasing, vast endless streams of consciousness.

i sound like i'm musically tripping into brink walls, off cliffs, and i seriously want to punch myself in the face when i listen back to my vibrato (...or lack of..) but at least it gives me things to work on :D
