Quote from the Fender rep that this customer was speaking with,

It meets our specs and QC, in our eyes its fine. BTW there is not a spec to how much quilt the top should or shouldn’t have. Some might have more, some might have less.

I see Anderson and Suhr doing great in the coming years...........................

Meh, they can say whatever they want, we as consumer dont have to buy it. Like Ive always said, Im so happy that Ralphie turned me on to GMW, I can have whatever I want(Just about) at a decent price and know that Im going to be blown away...

Rediculous. No offense to anyone, but who honestly thinks those guitars are worth that much money? I can't even see the BIGGEST EVH fanboy shelling out the cash for that guitar.

Man DJ, Fender has got you all tore the fuck up these days!

That's to bad. I liked the feel of them at NAMM but would never pay that kind of money for one. Here's a quick shot from the booth at NAMM. Notice the tops, they seem to be pretty nice.

Fender has made some killer instruments in the past and I fully respect what that name means in regards to the history of guitars.

That said the board of directors there have turned that company into a joke.

In all fairness, me and Jim were at a guitar store last week and they had an Andy Drop Top with a very unimpressive top on it. It was over $3k, I believe. They can't all be winners, I guess? It also might look better at a different angle.

And the $1k ESP...that's got to be a very thin veneer, yeah? That's the way my Edwards is. A real maple cap, but the actual flamed part is probably the thickness of a pick...

I have seen some as well but never this far off, the 1/2 quilt look will never catch on me thinks :D From what I have read the paint process is the make or break of a killer quilt or flame. I hear it is an art to really make a top just pop out.

I`m not sure how thick it is, Mike. But in all fairness, I got a good deal on it. List price according to drumcityguitarland.com is 1899$

That's a quilt top...Wow!
That would be returned for a full refund immediately if it were me.

Over the years EBMM has never released a guitar like that called 'a quilt top' and they are half the price of that.

That's half a quilt top.

The prices and quality of the 'big guys' is upsetting to me for some reason as well.
Some of the smaller companies may become the 'big guys' one day if this keeps up.

Inca, the quilts you posted look like the guitars are on fire under the finish
pure beauty
that evh pos looks like an old sam ash hondo II by comparison.
