You were reading my mind.....

Steve

That is only the beginning of my powers

Oh yeah - what's it saying now?

It would be saying, "buy Guinness stock this week". Me and the lass are leaving Saudi this week to go back to Ireland for a month of vacation. Gonna do some serious beer indulging and get really stupid.

:cheers2:
Steve

My dream vacation...

I see phone numbers... But, is there an actual website for the Tone Bra??

I'm convinced I'm going to try some. I know someone posted this before, but where can we get them?
Call Frank at the amplounge. 248-553-3400 or his cell at 248-390-7269.

Googled up these Tone Bra's online. Found a really cool 38 D cup leather dancers bra and a 14" strap-on

LOL   :hys:

And like I expected they sound GREAT. MY test was done on a MArshall 4x12 loaded with 4 G12T-75's. The Celestion 75's now sound more like a 65's or Vintage 30's except with more clarity and a lot more tight thump.

I can see the clarity aspect but how would the tone bras give you a tighter low end ?

Why not just turn down the treble?
Thats what I was thinking but I may not understand how these work.

Do these cut the some of the highs all together or are the highs still there but just not as directional? If it will keep all the highs but make it not as directional then thats cool but if it just cuts the highs then what George suggested makes more sense to me.

Sometimes depending on the amps EQ, and the speakers EQ curve, I can see how just turning down the treble or presence may not work as well. I had a 4x12 with 75's, and with the particulair amp there was something in the high end that I never liked even with the presence all the way down and treble at a conservative setting.

would be interesting to hear a recorded clip pre and post. i am sure in room it sounds different, but would be interesting to hear what the mics pic up.

True..... I just dont understand why Goerge's and my question have just been ignored. Is it hard to say if its just cutting treble or making it less directional?

It's better to mod than turn a knob. :)

Audioholic....in your case it sounds like the speaker was the wrong match for the amp. Like any speaker 75's don't work with all amps. With some amps they sound pretty good.

I guess so since no one will say what these things offer that is more than just treble reduction.

For me, I think it was more like the speaker was the wrong choice for the cabinet. I tried 2 or 3 amps through the same cab and still had a sound I was not completly happy with, so I chalk it up to the cab, which was a decently made, but budget cab. Some amps have that ice pick thing that I hate, so I can see how this solution may work for that better too.

Then again, on some amps, true, just playing with the eq would be the solution I would think. I think the tone bra is like more even treble distrubution though instead of treble reduction, is that right?

but also has a resonance "Q" that changes the NFB. :

When you adjust this parameter, what happens ? Tone and feel change ?

I was curious about these so I got a set a couple of weeks ago to use in my studio. I mounted them in a Legacy 412X loaded with Celestion 25s. I usually mic this cab with two mics pointed at the edge of the dustcap. When I tried to record that cab with the tone-bras installed I got a drastic reduction in "useable" treble. No good, no work for my application needs.  'Just my experience.

what's the difference between the Tone Bra vs. Beam Blockers?

I was wondering about myself. Thats why I asked about it just cutting treble or redirecting it. If it redirected it you could find a new mic placement and you could stand closer to your cab and still hear the treble you need to cut. Since it sounds like it just reduces the treble I think I'll pass. I can reduce the treble on my amp and still great feel if I need too and use mic placement that Im used too.

Guys, on a related note, yesterday I had a chance to try out a Mills acoustics Afterburner cab. It sounds great, first & foremost, but identical throughout the room. At virtually 90 degrees to either side, standing (ears 3 ft above of the cab) or kneeling in front (ears directly in the line of fire) of it the tone DOES NOT CHANGE. They absolutely solved the phasey, sounding different from every angle issues most cabs have. Blew my mind actually

I love my Bogner 4x12 but it definitely sounds different at various listening positions. Overall while I like the Bogner core tone just as much as the Mills, for overall performance, sound coverage and feel (the responsiveness of the Mills is ridiculous) the crown goes to the Mills. Honestly, no blockers or tone bras needed with this.

I juggle Mills cabinets for breakfast ;)

Yup, a forklift to help move your other cabs down to FedEX :hys:
