Hearing some great clips of the ecstacy.. the blue channel sounds like an analogue orgasm in my ear. So I ask myself, if you had one, what made you move it on? What replaced it? I know they are not voiced with as much top end bite as say a Marshall.. they are however, probably more forgiving than someone like me who is used to 800's. Is this accurate?

Second part of my question.. have any of you A/B'd the blue channel of the real deal vs a bogner pedal? What were your thoughts?

Let's discuss...

This was short but got me thinking.. sounds like the pedal had a bit more bite (which i liked!)

Good question. I use Bogner Red pedals through my JTM45. Is it enough Bogner DNA to negate buying an Ecstacy?

I'm sure GAS made guys move on. Not likely something "better".

I've had a couple.

Moved them because I could never get a balance I liked (long term) between the channels.

A blue channel with a hair more gain, would have been great; never was in love with feel of the red channel.

Dig the sound of others playing them, just not for me.

Replaced by Camerons, and Cornford; now just Cornford.

Wizard Modern Classic sent mine off with it's tail between it's legs. Never liked the feel of it….too saggy. Blue channel was decent, just could never get it where I wanted it. Red channel was unusable. Don't miss it at all. Still have the Wizard and use it all the time.

I'm still trying to get one!

Hard to justify it though as the one I have instead of it is fantastic.

Well, it was supposed to be a CCV, but everyone knows that story. So my Dan Gower KK++ modded Marshall JCM 800 replaced the Bogner XTC 101B.

I have moved sideways from my XTC, I still own it but side stepped to a Friedman Marsha and now Axe II. The XTC is my all time favorite and can't be duplicated but the AxeII is just so god damn convenient and power full.

I had an early white chassis 101B (w/switchable speaker outputs) at one time. I got rid of it after picking up a Soldano Lucky 13 head that Mike had turned the lead channel into a volcano.

Nothing's replacing my 20thA-X
I have heard that the palm muting is better w/this amp than the late model 101b's… what say ye?

It's all subjective I think. Who's to say my idea of phat palm mutes is the same as the next guy's, know what I mean? I will say, I opted for the EL34 20thA and it's a killer, killer amp. Does a lot of stuff with great tone across the board. Blue is killer, LOUD. Red is tight and big. And then all the micro adjustments are over the top.

It's a great amp. I know some guys who favor the 101B, I know some 101B guys who traded back for a 100B. I know some guys who love only the Classic. So it's all subjective. The amp for me does everything better than I will ever push beyond. It's a helluva lot of amp. The thing that's been said about it is "it's hard to make it sound bad", and that's really a truthful summary. It really sounds incredible.

One of the few amps I've owned that I never have even thought of selling. It's my desert island amp... every channel isn't perfect but overall it's damn near unbeatable for me.

I replaced my Classic with a 101b, which got replaced by a 20th, which got replaced by an older 101b

I had a 101B way back in '98 and when I got bit by the Lukather bug, I sold it and bought a Rivera Bonehead. BIG regret.

Never selling my 20th. It truly does everything excellently, and my other amps just give different flavours :)
