I have a JCM 800 modded with Fortin's 'cali mod". Im trying to obtain the tone that Dave Ziemba from the Salads has on his youtube clips. Can anyone offer advise on their settings?

Im pretty sure that the video shows Daves settings but the real secret to that tone IMHO is a v30 loaded cab. Take a look at the video and pause it when he shows the front and back! Hope this helps!

Yup Ralph's right, I'm sure the V30 loaded cab is the biggest secret to that tone!

Start with the controls at noon, run the gains high and the mini switch under the Master Volume in the left position. Use the Tight setting, and run the Depth at about 11 o clock.

Tweak the Mids lower, while you're playing, until it gets closer to that sound and you should be there

Thanks guys for the input. I am running it right now with a Mesa 2x12 with V30's in it. I guess the closest to the tone is indeed with the saturation switch switched into the left position which really saturates the tone and cuts a lot of volume this way. I think the mystery is where to place the two bright switches? And also, how to tweek the two gain knobs? Any more advise?

For that tone, I would set both gain bright switches to the left position too. Put both gains at around 1 o clock to start with. Then if you need more gain, dial in more using Gain1. It will sound very gainy and modern, but with that cool sag which i can hear in Dave's clip

I was in the room when he recorded them. Gains at 1 o'clock, all the switches to the left, tight mode, master at 11 o'clock, depth 10 o'clock, presence 10 o'clock, bass 1 o'clock, mid 10 o'clock, treble 10 o'clock and of course through V30s.

Cheers,
Mike

This................1:00 on both gains and use gain 1 for more gain.

Try both bright switches to the right as well, cool tones to be had that way as well.
