A stock jmp can go for anywhere from $1k to $2k usually, then factor in that freidmans mods easily can add up to over $1k alone plus the hassle of shipping and the long wait, I see them usually sell used for around $1600 give or take a few hundred which isn't that bad and usually the seller takes a loss. The production amps from Cameron and freidman are expensive which makes mods the next best thing for many. With Cameron,there's the rarity and limited number out there as its hard to get an amp done for those not in the know. I don't see $1500 to $1800 being that bad a price for either freidman or cameron mods.

Nope, I got parents . Actually, I do a pretty good job of managing my money; even got some in the bank. I have some nice gear, and I actually play it, so that sort of separates my from the usual formite. I'm never going to make a ton of $, but I'm much happier playing music all day.

The average 50 yr old forumite played out in the 80's and now has a real job.

I survived the 80's and don't like most music past 1990.

I forget who it was, may have been Steve Henning, but someone broke down the cost to run a small amp business. It was really eye opening for me. With overhead and labor there isn't much meat on the bone. Small amp builders aren't driving around in Lambo's living in Beverly Hills. Big amp builders (i.e. Fender, Peavey, Marshall, etc.) can build stuff for way cheaper.

71,000$ a year is also not THAT much is it? If you have a mortgage, car payment, kids etc etc.... that doesn't get you very much left over for 5k amps. That's my perspective anyway..

Umh actually that is a very good respectable income that is wayyyy over the national average in the US. Not sure what you are making in Canada but the original poster is doing more than ok.

not really man, Sadly you're still way above the national average. These days if you're making more than $45k a year you're not doing too bad. It's all about living within your means. The girlfriend and I have low overhead which unfortunately means we spend ALOT on crap
