I chose A, only because I preferred it in this test by a Little.

Now, that being said I'm certain B would win in a band mix, and live.

"A" for the guy that sits at home twiddling, and "B" for the gigging/professional musician.

Yeah both sounded good but I liked A for more of the parts.

A and B are like night and day. For these kinds of sounds I definitely liked A better.

I'd like to choose B with more mid focused speakers.
B is more refined, extended high and low.

Owning Bogner OS 2x12 and knowing that Friedman is particularly crisp, it was easy to tell them apart.
Which one is better depends totally on the context. Here the context was "electric guitar as a solo instrument".

Cool compare, thanks for posting.

I was surprised by how different the cabs sounded, but it's hard for me to pick a "winner," so I didn't vote.

Most of the time I felt A sounded more round and clear, while B was more gritty and cutting with much more upper mids. After hearing the gain clips, I expected that the cleans would sound way better from the A cab, but they didn't. Like someone else said, I can see A being a better bedroom or studio cab, but B would perform better in a band setting.

Thanks again for the cool comparison.

I have both in my possession. Definitely sound differences in the room. Both are badass.

I have a gig on Saturday, and I’m having a tough time deciding which cab to play.

Bogner is louder and more aggressive. Friedman is punchier, tighter, and not quite as loud, but deeper.

I’m playing them through my BE50 and Slax.

I picked A but that could just be because that is the tone I heard first. Could have possibly gone with B if that tone was first. Not very good at this I guess.

I will say though that I would love to have either a Friedman or Bogner cab. Now that I think about it, might try to off the Marshall MF280 4X12 that I have and pick one up! I don't use it and people seem to like the darker voiced V30's that are in it. Now to find a local sale.

You might just need to bring them both

I would be happy with either of these cabs. A sounded more "airy" and B sounded more modern or scooped but I agree with Dave's post, so many variables. Junk Yard is the only one that can give a true answer IMO (or anyone who has both)

Had never seen this thread, cool video for sure but yeah, it is nice to see the actual camera shot to be sure all things are equal. Even then, differences are still there. I don't think there was any manipulation behind this video because they both sound kick ass.

I liked A on every example except the last one (the cleanest one). B sounded more scooped and was missing the thick mids that A had. But when playing super clean, scooped often sounds good so not surprising I liked B on the clean.
Just what I was thinking

I have the Friedman 212 and love it. I modded mine slightly with side handles and some Mesa caster plates with wheels at the bottom which helps for gigging. It is a great cab. I am not a fan as much of the Bogner OS. I love the 212CB though. Had one of those a couple of years back and it was a great cab.

You're missing the "one" main option. Nothing but the best here.

I use my Zoom q3hd when comparing cabs. I can move it around and see how they really compare in the room.

The same company that makes Bogner cabs probably also makes the Diezel cabs. None of these guys make their own.

I think B.A.D. makes Diezel cabs, pretty sure they make Friedman cabs, too. Not sure about Bogner.

Cool vid. I remember I spent an hour once comparing the following cabs: a 2x12 Bogner like in the video, a 4X12 Friedman cab, a 2x12 PRS cab, a 2x12 DrZ cab, and a 3x12 3rd power cab. I thought the Friedman sounded the best overall and the Bogner sounded way too honky mid sounding to me... I remember thinking it was more suited for classic rock or something. How did they sound in the room with you? I'll admit somethings sound way different/better/worse when mic'd.

I hooked up my friedman 2x12 and one of bogner os212s to my jj today. Forget one vs the other get both. They sound awesome apart and even better together.

now wondering how the evh 2 x 12 would stack up in this test

So I've spent some time with both. They are different, so it's not really fair to compare them.

Bogner: more middy, louder (if volume unchanged), more high-end detail. Can get gritty/grainy so yo have to dial that out. More 'in-your-face' which is probably a combo of the speakers and amp design.

Friedman: more depth, punch, tighter, bigger at lower levels, can crank up the amp and highs a little more.

No matter what speakers you put in these cabs, the I believe the characteristic differences will be the same. It's physics. Look at the differences in dimensions.

You cannot go wrong with either. I did end up using the Friedman at my gig this past weekend and was very pleased with it. The ONLY complaint I have is the V30s are not broken in. I think right now I lean toward the Friedman. ...And I JUST received the back panels for the Bogner (From Bogner) so I have two totally badass 2x12's. ...Now, if I can just get my hands on a Stone Age C. Ha!

Also, I plan to unsolder and add size 12 AWG .205 terminals so that I can swap speakers as I wish. I did this with my Bogner OS and it works perfectly. I don't know why most cab makers use the .250" terminals; they are not tight enough. I would like to mix either a CBH75 or 65 with the V30 in the Friedman. ...Maybe even a Redback for total destruction.

You do not need to solder speakers if you use .205" terminals for Celestion or Scumback speakers; those will be very snug. Highly recommend if you are not keen to solder like me.
