I preferred A as it sounded "angrier", while "B" seemed a little hollow. If you want that scooped mid sound, then use the "A" cab and play around with the microphone positions.

I voted only two minutes or so into the video.

A...
Both sound great and I could be perfectly happy with either, couple slight EQ adjustments on the amp and Bob’s your uncle!

I've spent more time with them. In the room, I'm favoring the Friedman 2x12 right now. A little Smoother, punchier, tighter.

The smoothness could be the speaker differences: Friedman has Chinese V30s, the Bogner has Redback/Scumback H75-LDC...So even then, you think the Friedman would be less smoother.

BUT, the size/height and angled baffle makes a difference. The Bogner is taller, more angled baffle, so I think you hear the highs/cut a bit more. The Friedman, you can turn up the highs a bit more. ..as well as the volume, to match the Friedman.

I played through a Bogner 4x12 this weekend, and I'm in the same camp that no 2x12 will ever touch a 4x12...Well, at least a Bogner 4x12.

Both cabs can do metal, classic rock, blues, etc. It's just gonna depend on your ears and setup. Both amazing cabs!

You're missing the "one" main option. Nothing but the best here.

The same company that makes Bogner cabs probably also makes the Diezel cabs. None of these guys make their own.

Diezel does make their on cabs in germany. Only in US they dont.

I really want to try one of these Diezel cabs. Another cab would be the Wizard 2x12 14" convertible.

They both sounded good but I picked A, was a bit tighter and a hair more focused

I chose A for all of it...tighter in the low mids. But I kinda figured A was the Bogner cuz it sounds a little high rolloff. But then again B sounded bigger, so I was somewhat surprised. I still like A more. I had the short Bogner 2x12 for a bit, not the big 2x12, and i didn't care for it really at all. Very boomy.

Honestly, I don't put much stock in this comparison. Too many variables. Even a slight change in mic placement can be the difference between something sounding great or not so great. Then there's the differences inherent in the speakers. I've owned and tried and bunch of 2x12s. For hard rock tones, the Friedman is my favourite by a pretty wide margin. It has amazing punch and clarity. No weird boomy lows like I've often experienced with other 2x12s. I've tried various speaker combinations in different Bogner, Suhr, Divided by 13 etc. 2x12s -- open and closed back. I definitely think the Friedman sounds best for the tones I'm after.

I think B.A.D. makes Diezel cabs, pretty sure they make Friedman cabs, too. Not sure about Bogner.

Diezel cabs have been made in both Germany and the USA. I think there were subtle differences between them. But I believe they are all made in Germany now.

BAD makes Wizard too!

Diezel cabs sold in the U.S. are made by BAD using same specs as German built cabs

now wondering how the evh 2 x 12 would stack up in this test
In comparison, it is smaller physically and in sound. Lacks low-end and is on the bright side.

Both these cabs beat the EVH hands down.

The Friedman 2x12 sounds pretty small to me.

Not in that clip. I have one.

There is a lot of variables here. Was the mic placed in exactly the same spot? How old are the speakers, how much use, speakers can sound extreamly different after a break in period. Etc.

Year end review:
And I believe Dave had the most valid point at the first about even the slight variables. Which leads me to share my experience from owning bother Bogner & Friedman 2x12 for over a year... Cab A sounds as if the mic could was picking up more of the direct (straight) center dust-cap of the speaker and B mic sounds a little more tilted to center dust-cap but off-axis more.. Who knows lol.

I can only say that for gigging over the last 12 months that the Friedman 2x12 works best at practice and shows. The Bogner 2x12 sounds just as badass with bigger low-end, smoother mids and highs are better to me. The Friedman 2x12 has the more direct, tighter punch and cuts more which is why my buddy's I play with as well as I like using that one a little more.

Both sound good, preferred B for the highs. I guessed correctly because the Bogner cabs usually come stuffed with that batting that kind of dulls the highs it seems.

Ha! The funny part as we know about gear and our ears.... I find the Friedman to have the bigger, badass, tighter low-end with smoother mids and highs, which works for me. But, this is at loud apartment volumes. Regardless, both are badass!
