Friedman Brit-50 Head

I wonder if this is a true Plexi circuit, like the Friedman Plex, or emulated in the preamp like his BE series.

I'd guess emulated because there is no way to really get that without a NMV and then the volume. I suppose with a PPIMV you could but I would guess he has just altered the preamp a bit so catch the feel of a plexi.

My bigger observation is that in this demo at least, i still hear the Friedman mids. A bit honky but with the highs rounded off. That's the whole beauty of a Plexi and 800, that raw edge. They describe this one as being raw but i am not sure i hear raw in this demo. (Not 3K+ raw anyway)

Not sure how this would be different than the JEL50. Maybe it's an option for those who don't want the red tolex?
This was my thought - what gap is this filling? Friedman makes so many damn amps at this point, and God bless him they sound good, but I would think he has hit carrying capacity.

Especially that they almost all overlap in a significant way. I don't really understand it either.

I like the Plex and the Dirty Shirley Mini/little Sister but I’ve never got on with the bulk of his Master Volume amps. Because they’re emulating a Marshall so much, they draw a direct comparison in my mind and for my hands and there’s something just not right (for me) in the top end and in the grunt/ push factor. That being said I respect Dave a lot. it’s, his ear and mine mustn’t align on what an 800 does.
Still looking forward to his take on Vox. Would like to try a Buxom Betty too.

As usual, it sounds good once they start cracking into it a bit. I just can't help but feel like this is a bit redundant though. I suppose it is nice that is a bit lower in price though.

The two people in the video, asshole to asshole couldn't conjure up a beerfart in a whirlwind.
That’s hilarious. I’m going to use that once a week haha. I thought they did great. Bowcott isn’t a technical player but he has a lot of knowledge in rock/metal and knows what riffs to play. And Don’s playing from around 8:30 to 9:30 is impressive. I’ve never heard that dude play so well.

who’s beerfarts would you rather huff, theirs or a 20 second Fluff “chug” biscuit out of a Marshall?

Yeah I thought the demo was pretty thorough and sounded pretty good after they got past the intro.

I suppose this video has really got me interested in the Marshall/Plexi/Friedman world. I was kind of waiting to see if Bogner would do a Snorkler 100 (even though that was never a thing?)

Maybe it’s just the way they mike’d the cab, but I am really liking the tones. I can see how people would say Friedman has too many amps out. Personally, I absolutely can’t stand signature gear as much as I like Jake E Lee. What other amps get close to this?

If you are discounting the sig stuff, I imagine the Smallbox or the BE50 could get quite a bit of the sounds in this amp. I don't think the overlap is 100% of course.

+1

I mean, what gap is this filling in his lineup?

How is this different than the plex he came out with?

I'm so confused
Seem a bit redundant really........................:dunno:I think the plex should be able to get Brit tones as well. Oh well I guess felt the EVHness of the Plex was too much for other people.:dunno:

So Nick said this amp has a standard PrePI master volume which is a JMP/JCM800 master volume, so this is the master used in Dave's Smallbox 50 and BE100 amps with some tweaks.

Seems like this is a production version of the JEL50 amp, since it has plexi and JCM800 modes...so I see what Dave did here. Overall I thought is sounded good.

This has a lot more gain than the Plex, and has two channels. But to me, sounds very similar to the JEL50, but without a thump knob.

What about BE 100 deluxe? (I told myself I wouldn’t do anything less than 100ish watts)

All the Jose demo’s I’ve watched sound squishy and less direct compared to the Brit 50 in this vid
