Friedman Jose clips -NAD!

Sounds like all your other amps
I do dial then in very similar, but in the room it's head and shoulder above any Friedman and way more clarity than the Slo or a Wizard.
A Wizard has a lot more gain but not the note clarity.

This is a special amp! So many useable tones too

Ummm….what in the world are you talking about? Sorry but Wizards reign supreme in the clarity dept. not close. I’m not trying to be a turd I’m just blown away by that comment!

Wizards are killer amps, no doubt. I own a MCII and MTL. I had a Friedman Jose for 3 days.

It was a cool, plenty of harmonic content and clarity, but I felt it lacked in the gain department.

My issue was I was looking for something more modern, so I ended up with a Ground Zero Hellion v2.

BTW in the string clarity department, my personal opinion is the Ground Zero Hellion v2 reigns supreme.

I'd consider grabbing a used Jose when prices drop. I think it's worth owning but not for close to $4k.

At that price range, I'd rather grab a used MCII or MTL. Wizards are phenomenal and well built.

I got my hands on a like new one. Arrived Friday!

Thanks for sharing and congrats on the new Jose. Definitely a cool amp, right alongside that Anderson Bobcat.

That's one axe I wish I wouldn't have sold. There's just something about how Andersons play so effortlessly.

They lack fight/character because they are all so well built. The QC is insane and the fit and finish is off the charts.

I hear a typical Friedman response. No midrange. Fatiguing treble without having any presence.
Your SLO smokes this.

Not at all, how many have you owned or played thru? Actually that does not matter at all because this one is sooooo different
There is zero treble fatigue and the presence in vintage mode actually brings out the mids and is super useful. NEVER owned an amp where I turned the presence up past noon like this one

For certain things I will use the Slo still, but the note clarity is night and day. You may or may not be familiar with the reality that with a ton of gain on tap you lose note clarity. With this Friedman is has actual mid crack like no other Friedman I've owned

X
BE deluxe
SB
PT 1and 2 (which did but has a harsh top end)
JEL's -ch 1 does 2 is flub city

All I can tell you is try one and don't trust what your hearing on YT

+1 the Jose doesn't suffer from treble fatigue. I have a B.A.D. SLO 100, which I love. They're 2 completely different amps.

The SLO has its own sound, gobs of gain and that authoritative midrange push. The Jose is more articulate and at its heart is a Marshall.

I found myself having to hit the front end of my Jose with a SD-1 to tighten up the bottom-end due to how I set the gain and low-end.

Dave did a killer job with the control layout and simplicity of it. Just remember the Jose isn't a modern gain monster. It's a hardrock amp.

Did you ever tube swap your JEL? I have a JEL-50. Yes it has a HUGE flubby bottom end. I emailed Dave about it. I almost returned it after not getting much resolution from him. There was a JJ in V1, V2 and V3 had B.A.D. labeled I believe to be Chinese preamp tubes. THEY ALL SUCK! especially the JJ -loose booming low end. After trying various 12ax7s (square getter Chinese, Tung-sol, EH, other JJs, the winner was all 3 Mullard Reissue CV4004s. I have the bass on 4-5 now, tight, thick with harmonics on the high strings. Before was boomy, loose, and piercing thin highs as I tried compensating the low end issue with more presence and treble.

Your Jose sounds great! Chewy, and harmonics galore. I wasn't jabbing you with the Poison comment.

I'll have to research the amp more. The only things I'm interested in right now is The Jose, JEL 50 or SLO.

BTW, how are you recording?

This amp sounds great...Again, not a "metal" amp, but a great sounding rock amp with a lot of texture and character.

The way it feeds back in the top clip is nice, but otherwise from those clips I'm a bit deflated on it.
