I would agree the highend presence isnt there, sounds like a dark Marshall.

Also, lots of gain for VH!

Ill probably get slammed for this but i think all these Friedman amps sound to dark. If you take Van Halen as great Marshall tone, the Friedmans are too gainy, too much low end and not a very promonent high end. Prefer my JVM, not worth the extra coin IMO. But then again i haven't played one so... Go figure

you know whats cool about these friedmans is that they have knobs on them for gain, lows, treb, presence and you can actually adjust them. and when you change their position, the tonez go from dark to rip your head off nuclear bright STG! You can get that super cool evh (TM) tone and when you do its like when you get that perfect puffy hair helmet effect from the 80's.

Still, enjoy the JVM and if you value your coinpurse, don't try a friedman. ;)

Greenbacks sounded the best to my ears.hate those v30's. Something about the eq of those things just turn my head..

Guys, how about the obvious? The 1 x 12 is closer to the floor and this is mic'd with an ambient mic attached to a phone rather than direct so obviously the 4 x 12 will sound more in your face and have more top end. Case in point, the 1 x 12 V30 vs the 4 x 12 v30 which sounded the best. I'm not going to be a TGP sissy and complain about that because you get the general idea but I think overall the greenback was the best, the V30 sounded great ( I can see why Friedman likes to pair those) and the Lynchback sounded good but "thicker". After hearing these clips, I'm thinking I would want to pair something V30ish with my Weber Legacy or RI Greenbacks. Thanks for the clip!

More importantly, that amp sounds good and doesn't make me think EL84

All the 112s sounded fine to me and I'm sure they could be tweaked to perfection.

I was kind of surprised by the lack of bottom end going through the 412, but I guess I shouldn't have been. I've got the same issue with my JCA22h pushing a 412. With the bass at 7 I'm that video it doesn't give you anywhere to really go with it.

I really like the Lynchback clip. They all sound great!

Lynchback is definitely darker and chewier though. Anyone else agree?

I thought the V30 1x12 was the darkest/chewiest...the Lynchback seemed to sit right in between it and the Greenback. The V30 took on a whole different character in the 4x12, most likely due to positioning as noted.

I wonder if these lynchbacks are essentially the marrying of a RI greenie and a V30.. the Super V's I think were more V30/Fane

I think you nailed it...that's exactly what they sound like to me.

Anybody know why they don't make a 16ohm model?

Sounds excellent. I liked it best with the Greenback. Great sounding little amp.

Obviously I have to say this out loud. I'm NOT trying to duplicate the VH tone...ever. I play with way more gain and don't have his hands. I just enjoy the riffs...most of the time I don't even play in the same fret positions as he does.

The Friedman amps have lots of gain available...there are controls for gain, presence, treble, mids and bass...and they actually work.
I run my BE100 with the tones all at around 5 except bass a little more, there is plenty of top end to take it way out of dark territory.

In this video bass, mids, treble were all around 5-6 or 1 o'clock.

Great VH tone imho -
Looks like a 3 Monkeys Ze on top of a 4x12, have you played that one as well?

+1, this, would like to hear a 4x12 of G12M 25 watt Greenbacks.

Great demo mark, but it sounded to me like the proximity of the phone/mic may play a part in what the speakers in the 1-12 sounded like. To me it sounded like the Lynchback was semi on axis, the Greenback was more on axis and the V30 was almost off axis as I have a number of V30 cabs and a BE100 and they never sound that lacking in upper mids and highs. Just wondering if the mic positions changed for these clips? Thanks
