I'm immensely enjoying the VHT CL100 w/ eq that I got last lear. I'll think about my other amps, and play them, but its never for long, as I unplug from them and go back into my VHT. I LOVE this amp and might want to pick up another Steve Fryette design of some kind. I've thought of a UL or D60, but what really draws my attention is the Memphis 30. I think it offers me the basic pitbull tone, but adds something different. At only 30 watts and being a combo, I think I can better manage it than a head and cab.

Question: VHT used to make an amp called a Pitbull 45. How similar is it to a Memphis 30? If they're very similar, there's a big price difference, which is why I ask. The Memphis 30 cost more than double the price of a used VHT.

Question: For those who have played them, how are they? How do they compare and contrast? Would either one give me more tonal options vs my CL100 or ad compliment to it?

Thanks and peace~

Never played a Memphis, but the Pittbull 45 is the same basic tone as the other pittbull heads, just EL84 based and a bit less gain (although it does still have a pretty good amount). It's a pretty good amp imo.

Andy Timmons song "Turn Away" was played through a VHT Pitbull 45

The Memphis 30 preamp is very similar to the clean & rhythm channel of the Sig X.
Fryette told me they are almost identical.
