I like how you fuckers are arguing this shit weeks latter abut how it's not up to your specifications, as if you have any idea on how to build something like this..

LOL

so BAD or Synergy or whatever has this new technology found in the Wampler pedal head and Friedman IR load. Does this new Ultra Lead also have this same technology?

I have avoided amps with built in IR loads and too many tech oriented deals - it just puts bad junk in the trunk when you could always just plug into an external devices where the goal post is always moving. I still think this amp overall is a great investment for the musicians that actually play in a band or whatever, but I also have a hard time seeing how this amp will age because there will always be better/different/new ways of emulating an amped turned past 2 and I like the idea of buying an amp new today and in 20 years being thankful I bought it when I did. Not just from a collectors perspective… from the perspective of a studio owner I guess (sort of similar)

Yeah, big LOL. Being a paying customer that has an opinion on an amp they’ve dreamt of buying new for years and years. Guess Steve and you will be LOLing… until Steve checks his bank account and order sheet.

Sure, I bet there will be the obligatory first wave when some people buy it after watching Eugo Valvulator and Michael “sandlot kid” Nielsen demo relaase videos. But a year or 2 later. Doubt it. But you know, I could be completely wrong. Hopefully for Fryette I am. But for me, I’ll keep my opinions that you find so funny AND my money to myself. LOL.

Yeah. For everyone that loves this amp, that is great. I wish there were thousands of you so that fryette could see his dream realized.

I watched the transition from vht to fryette, and in that video, he wanted to open his amps up to a new clientele. I know that he probably wanted a wider base, but it could also be looked at as him not being content being popular only with the metal crowd, which was pretty much his following.

Intentional or not, this alienates his clientele once more by not only not giving them what they want, but then naming it the amp they asked for and making it into a gimmicky digital box.

I have found over the years that the best amps for metal are not amps made for metal, because they have rich harmonics and great voicings. They either have natural punch or usable gain and/or they get to that special place with a boost.

Sometimes people try to make something more and then end up inadvertently making it less

That's the real issue here - in fact, I'm willing to bet it probably sounds great too - if we ever indeed get to hear it :ROFLMAO: :dunno:

The problem is not enough people are gonna buy one, simply because of the "plot twist" that it ends up a four thousand dollar paperweight in 10 years, combined with form factor, and everything else that was mentioned.

I cannot fucking help myself but think of Randall, Peavey, and all of the other dumbass amp companies that make breathtaking, achingly retarded business decisions like this all the time.

Sure, but those other companies at least aim at beginners (where gimmicks belong) pricewise

Is that the selling point? We should buy it because we don't know how to build it?

Wow, that's so META

I didn't know Stevey had it in him - we'll see how many people will be guilted into buying a future four thousand dollar paper weight with an LCD screen because they don't have his unbelievable, out of control autocad skills

Not exactly a light read, but thanks for sharing.

This speaks of low to zero latency in the digital domain - somewhat interesting. The A/D and D/A conversion required in something like the new Fryette box is a separate phenomenon, and will of course induce latency.

However Steve hasn't had the chance to really explain what the heck he's talking about, and how this tech is applied - hopefully that will happen upon release next month.

I have no doubt that he will reveal the tech. Do you think it drops next month, though? I am really excited to see how many people buy it. I can't completely track it, but i kinda can get an idea here by NADs and the following member classified ads

Yeah… going from a situation where you have tubes and analog components, but introduce conversion in the middle of it… then it’s bypass-able so you have different circuits going on there. But then you might use the IR loader, which will also use converters. This reminds me of when Mesa started putting IR loaders in their amps, but you couldn’t bypass the converters and just get a line out. So you had to end up using a suhr iso-line out anyways…

It makes sense for a live player that wants to feel like he’s playing a real amp. But it’s kind of a soup sandwich. Like a Hybrid. You have the best and worst of both worlds whereas you could just go full gas or full EV

So who is going to get off their computer and go and actually try one out when they are out?

Those who actually do try it and like it, what will you do?

Will you secretly like it but still hate on it?

Will you want to buy it but feel you can't because of your preconceived ideas?

Will you buy it and admit you jumped the gun on your thoughts and admit Fryette is a genius and recant your distaste for his creation of this product?

For me, if it sounds good and responds well on pick attack and note separation, etc and the chug is right, then I am getting one.

He sold the name on January 1st 2009.
There is endless stories about what happened. None of them are true.
I was looking at the trademark office on an unrelated topic and stumbled across the following. VHT took a $150K loan from axl, used the name as collateral, and never repaid. AXL filed lawsuit, I'm too lazy to go find out if it ever went to court. I guess we can put all the guessing about what really happened to rest.

Also, it appears that the VHT trademark hasn't been renewed since 2022. Other amp companies appear to have let their trademarks die, too (Splawn, KSR).

If i played one and it sounded great, i wouldnt buy it.

I limit digital shit to 1700. And i still haven't been able to pull the trigger on that much
