I don't really feel like high end A/D/A conversion invalidates what make tube amps great. I've used an Eventide or a 2290 in the loop of most of them.

NGL, I think it sounds pretty great here. Has that signature VHT/Fryette sound.

I'm curious what the amp is below the new UL. An older UL that they're comparing it against?

I still think the market for this product is very narrow, though. I'm very curious why he didn't do a preamp only, especially since he sells power amps. (Perhaps to keep the whole thing to 2RU at the end of the day?) Also curious why he didn't do any partnering with another amp tech provider like Jason Tong did with Two Notes for his Alta P1 rack preamp. It's good for both brands, and it makes the product more compelling right out of the gate.

I'm also just not sure what the use case is at this point given how far modelers have come. I get it: tube power section, real iron, all that. But there's still A/D/A conversion in here somewhere, which kind of takes the "true analog" argument off the table for me. At that point it's a tough pitch against something like the Axe-FX. Way more bang for your buck, and you can still throw a tube power amp behind it if that's your thing.

It is an og UL below it. He has said many times what his target market is. Why would he need Two Notes, it already does the ir thing.

If it winds up doing this, I would be happy with it. When I owned a few of them, the other guitarists I played with loved and hated it. They loved the way it sounded, but they hated being buried by it.

The GPDI-IR is based off of the VHT Valvulator GP3 Preamp. Maybe they will do a dedicated preamp. But I believe the GPDI-IR is supposed to cover it.

I don't think the video is meant to sound great. I think it was just to show it actually makes sound. I believe it's a reply to Kelly's and a few other recent post on the Fryette forum.

"We missed March, because two critical parts suppliers missed their projected arrival deadline.
Until the new completion date is established from those suppliers, we’re not going to project a new date.
