Nah, I'm just wondering if we've seen any digital gear that's held up over time. Not equating the two things you said.

Yeah that's fair enough then. I would say it wildly depends on the era - full size component stuff from like the 80s and early 90s has held up a whole lot better than the later "5600 PCB" stuff of the late 90s and 2000s as far as digital gear, and I don't think that's an accident.
That's why you can still find MP1s all over the place, but finding a clean Triaxis is almost impossible. There are exceptions, sure, but the vast majority of digital gear (especially after they started outsourcing to 3rd world countries and downsizing components) is landfill fodder now.

The full size stuff was repairable if you could get the chips and program them. The new miniature stuff is not. The whole unit would have to be programmed and replaced. Since the Fryette stuff will be proprietary, if they go out of business or quit making the board you'll never be able to replace it.

No need to draw parallels with 80’s rack gear, Fryette made the GP3 preamp more recently than that and they won’t service them due to unavailability of components.

My Digitech RP1000 still going strong almost 25 years later…gigged hard for most of that time. Never had a problem with it. Bunch of my buddies have Digitech stuff from this era still going strong too.

Maybe one will pop up in your neck of the woods one day. I loved my old one, but don’t want to deal with the weight anymore. 28lbs sounds alot better to me. I’m sure the new one will be great whenever it comes out.

True on the weight. The weight does get tiring. I’m getting older and def not as strong or tolerant or motivated to deal with that anymore.
Been wrestling my 8 year old lately and realising he’s on the incline and I’m on the decline. That said, is it frowned upon to use your kid for slave labour these days? Maybe I can get him trained up to start lugging my shit around.

The amp gain/EQ controls are going to be WYSIWYG. However, the voicing switches (i.e. shift, cut, etc.), Graphic EQ, IR Settings, and more will be digitally recalled per preset.
