I’ve got 4 SYN2 units and a KSR 100W power amp and a 1U power conditioner in an 8U rack built into my studio desk. I have 1 space between the synergy and power amp. The SYN2 units get hot, really hot to the touch. Like do hot I can’t touch them. The KSR seems fine but it has plenty of space since there is nothing on the top side of it.

I bought a standalone slanted rack and planning to move the whole setup to it so I can have 1 space between each piece of gear.

What an incredible setup

It shouldn't. Before you know it, someone will be pouring beer on your rack, throwing up on it, or changing the settings.
I don’t really have a rack anymore.
I sort of decided that the world didn’t deserve my 12 delayed harmony Nirvana. I couldn’t carry it all alone anyway.
For now, I use the computer for effects I guess. Even then, it’s only small-room, delays, and reverb. But I have Joe Meeks to compress and EQ the signal externally.

It’s what I play 99% off the time.
I have the Syn2’s on a midi pedal to switch between them, works great.

I don't even think I would need that many options but it must be nice

Syns with a good power amp are just always killer

I'm also glad Kyle started doing a fully racked power amp, his shit always sounds great

The one thing I love about tube amps is how they sound once they get hot. I use the Syn-2 in my 4U FX rack and a Syn 50/50 in another 3U rack. I fire them up about 1/2 Hr before I'm ready to record or just play. They don't start singing until they are good and hot. My Syn-2 modules get the same treatment. I let em get hot before I start playing. Never ever had a problem. Been doing this for 25 years with a host of rackmount tube power amps also and I don't care about the heat. They are tube pre-amps and power amps, they are supposed to get hot.

Great information! I’ve got a 6u showing up tomorrow for my PV Classic 5050, SYN-2 and power conditioner so I can leave space between the PV and SYN.

Yeah i'm going to have to do that as well I think. I'm not excited about extra weight and size but it is worth it to not have overheating components.

If possible leave some space between the rack units.

Clip on fans from Amazon. I've used a clip on fan for years even on my regular amp heads to help cool the tubes.

I wanted to get a setup like this to lighten my rig a bit and have a tube tone but is slowly getting heavy, lol.

- 15 lb power amp
- 7 lb preamp
- 5 lb power rack
- 18 lb rack case

Wasn't my plan, lol. Who knows, my setup could change down the road and will have a solid tube power amp.

I finally got the $&@^%@^@ Fryette!! 😅 Played it for a bit but really damn cool and so many things you can do with this thing. Attenuate, make a small amp louder, use it like I am into a cab, etc. Really impressed so far.

I think anyone with a pedal modeller or preamp would have such an easy gig rig with this thing. Bring a 1x12 cab, the Fryette on top of the 1x12 and run a modeller that sits on your pedalboard. Simple.

You get the PS100 or PS2?

PS-2A. Dude it kicks ass! I was going to put a short kind of review in another post but might as well put it here. For the price, amazing how many functions you get with this thing. Regular power amp, attenuator, increased power for smaller amps, etc. It has enough stuff without having too much stuff, if that makes sense. Presence and Depth on the front, perfect. Doesn't have a trillion eq knobs.

I was playing thru my Synergy Killer Kali module earlier and haven't even tried the SLO-II module thru it yet. I love my Syn20IR but definitely is more thickness, bottom, etc with the PS-2A and more satisfying chugs.

I was shocked how low volume it gets. Like this is below bedroom volume. The low and high button goes from typical volume on a tube amp down to whisper levels. Can definitely use both at home and is controllable.

Just a really cool amp. I'm impressed so far! I got the Syn-2 and a perfect companion to the PS-2A. Will make a nice rack setup for sure. I was saying in another post, I think a modeller would sound sick with one of these and would be so convenient.

Congrats!

I have considered one for years, but I just never went that direction. I could never decide between the PS100 and PS-2A. I have also been really fixated on stereo, so I have gotten more stereo power amps.... all to wonder if mono would just be better, lol.

You should look up self-attenuation mode. That always looked interesting to me, and a good way to use it.

Yeah, the power amp makes a huge difference with the Synergy stuff. I have a few poweramps, but my favorite honestly, currently is the power section of my modded JCA100HDM. It just makes everything huge and chugtastic.

Thanks brother! Yeah it is funny how you can get components and sometimes certain things don't sound ideal until you finally suck it up and get a key component. I really dig the Synergy stuff and didn't realize I wasn't getting the best tone until I got this. Just sounds more 3D.
