One thing is certain..VHT/Fryette make some of the most articulate and toneful amps out there, and really great values new or used. Grabbed my 2nd D60 today, trying to make up for the mistake of letting one go a few years ago. What a great amp.

UL.

(If YOU get a Sig-X,you will flip it for a UL. If YOU get a UL and flip it for a Sig-X,you will wish you had kept the UL. The D-120 with factory loop I have is a great amp, especially at used pricing, but YOU will still be wanting to try a UL. The CLX is amazing too,but no matter what VHT/Fryette amp YOU get you will still be wondering about the UL until you get one.)

This.

Hey man! How are things? Hope well. Actually been slaving it to the Strategy 400, intellifex in between..good stuff!

Had a MarkV, Engl Invader and A Sig.. All at the same time, I couldn't really make up my mind as to which was the "best" so I put them all up for sale. Ended up having the Sig the longest. I
Eventually traded it and a guitar to get the Invader back. The Sig has a unique voice for sure.. I just didn't really did the clean channel as it broke up early and couldn't be properly leveled to the dirty channels at band volume.
My
Only complaint really.. There's one locally here for 1200 plus the Fryette 2x12.. Bay Area CL..

Can anyone share their knowledge of how the Deliverance takes a boost?

Depends on the boost. My first D60 sounded better without, bigger maybe. I was using an OCD with the amp in less mode, using my guitar volume to dial in a nice clean then OCD to boost back. Sounded good. But better in 'more' mode than with the OCD in less. Eventually sold it. Just got another yesterday, and tried the OD1X in front and didn't seem to take anything away, sounded just as big if you will..just hairier.

It's a non master volume clean channel but I've never ran out of headroom? I have a nos rca 12ax7 in that slot so maybe that has something to do with it.

The Sig X takes pedals like a champ so the deliverance should too. I normally use either a Cusak Screamer, SBN Screaming eagle, Modded Sd1 or a germanium treble booster.

I had a chance to play both UL (through Fatbottom cab and Orange) and Sig X (through Orange 4x12) and both are great amps.
I'd take UL but I was probably more pumped playing it and Sig X just happened to be there too. :D
They don't sound the same but close enough to be happy with any of them. UL sounded a bit bigger though.

Some people had a difficult time getting the clean channel clean enough on the Sig X. The cab and how many speakers makes a huge differance. I found this setting worked best for me. Just turn up the volume till breakup and back off a little. Turn on the boost with this setting for a point of breakup sound. The guitar controls can be very useful to get several sounds here. The second setting got me the Hiwatt sound.
Your going to need to set the presence and depth to match your rig.

Clean Channel:
Bloom
Norm
100W
Open
Volume - 10:00
Treb - 2:00
Mid - 10:00
Bass - 2:00
Pres - 2:00
Depth - 2:00

Clean Channel:
Brite
Boost
40W
Fat
Volume - 11:00 ~ 2:00
Treb - 2:00
Mid - 10:00
Bass - 2:00
Pres - 2:00
Depth - 2:00

The preamps in both amps are extremely similar. The clean channels are completely different. The clean channel if the Sig X is designed to get a NMV amp sound. The three way voicing switch at the beginning of the Lead and Rhythm channel of the Sig X is based on the different eras of the Pittbull. The UL is a Pittbull.
The real difference in these two amps is the poweramp.... The UL poweramp is based on the 2100 rack poweramp. The Sig X is based on the 2/90/2.
Other than that they are extremely similar. All the Fryette amps are based on very similar preamps.... As time went by he added some changes. The poweramp is the real difference in all of the different amps since the beginning of Fryette / VHT.

All this information came from my conversations with the Steve and the other people that work at Fryette.

Interesting comment.
I usually hear that the UL is supposed to sound tighter and more aggressive than the Sig:X.

When I got my Sig:X in a trade (also right after selling a Mesa Mark IV rev A), my initial feel was 'I'm getting the better deal anyway, might as well play it for a while and otherwise flip it'.
Well, that's quite a while ago now and the Sig:X is still here.

I do prefer the Mesa Mark's cleans to that of the Sig:X; even my lil' V:25 has *even* nicer cleans (seeing that the Sig:X already has nice cleans to begin with).
But...the main reason I sold the Mark IV in the first place, was the lacklustre R2, whereas the Sig:X shines with those in-between sounds (from Plexi to beyond).
Super high-gain, the Sig:X can hold its own, but would not be my first choice, after playing Engls for more than 10 years. The good thing is, the Sig:X will never be muddy (wacky settings notwithstanding), will retain a very open sound and you can vary the amount of saturation quite well.

I've been keeping my eyes open for a UL locally, but it's lower on the GAS list than a few other items;
Two Notes Torpedo Live and Engl Savage 60 would be my front runners now.

The good thing for you is, the Sig:X will sound TOTALLY different from a Diezel Herbert or VH4 (the only two I've played). More open, less congested (I'm looking at Ch4 of the VH4 mostly then), a bit more jangly and a different type of tightness.

More and more intrigued by the minute. Simple amp w/loop and used would make it actually affordable. I've got a Fortin Grind and a Maxon od808 that I'm itching to hear through a Deliverance. Crazy gas...

The UL is a nice amp, I liked mine but it was a bit dry and grainy sounding to me. You can get a ton of tones from it and the EQ sliders can shape it in any way you want. It was tight and fast but too dry for my tastes.

I also used to own a UL and it was good but not a keeper. The chugs on both my mark iic+ and Engl Invader 150 both sounded tighter, heavier and had more bottom end than the UL. For leads my mark iic+ was MUCH better and your Butterslax would be as well. The UL also didn't have the growl or aggression I was looking for on powerchords (it was too smooth, maybe some would call it dry as well because of that) unlike my mark iic+ and some of my other amps. You may as well try one to cure the gas but I think you have better amps

Ten bucks says you'll go back to a modded 800 after all this.

You always go back home, bon jovi.

I didn't start there so that doesn't apply. If anything I would go back to my VH4 ;)

Yikes, you didn't start with a bogner?, I mean I heard your tune, ...and all, nevermind, carry on.

If you started with a Vh4 I can't imagine you liking the UL nearly as much overall.

I always heard that the UL was IT. I had the GP3 preamp and 2/90/2 power amp about 10 years ago. Great products ! Should've kept those as well.
