Actually if you look at the completed items on ebay for today , the axe-fx's have been selling for pretty decent prices. I've considered selling off my standard and picking up an ultra, but haven't seen them selling much different than they have been.

I see 7 Ultras which completed for under $1600 which is quite a bit less than 1 week ago. Usually they stayed at or around $1800 so a $200 price drop at this time.

One just sold for $1499

https://cgi.ebay.com/AXE-FX-ULTRA-MINT-C ... 27bae05b7d

I expect to see it drop even more but this is just my opinion.
Yeah I'm thinking about putting up my standard now, maybe I can pick up an ultra for just a little more in a couple days. What do you think?

I think it is a good time, reason being the Ultra's are selling for $200-$300 less but the Standards seem to be right around where they always have been. No real drop yet, so I would go for it. You may even get an Ultra for around $1400 with the supply being so high on eBay right now, somebody might work you a deal if you make them an offer.

Good luck no matter what you decide!!

Couldn't even pry one of these units out
of people's cold, dead, hands!!!! And the ones
that were available, were being bought up by
the dozens, before I could write a PM.

Now the classifieds are filling up by the minute
with Ultra's and standard's since the Axe II
was announced. All I wanna say is Haaaaaahahaaahaha
Aaaahahahah!
Gonna git me an Axe FX II
Just sayin'.........

This is quite funny. Fractal is not anything like Apple. Apple does offer an upgrade incentive for their iPhones, every year when a new model comes out (which customers know about in advance) you have the option to upgrade for $200 (the price of a new one with a new contract) and add a year to your contract. If you bought the previous model within 30 days of the new one being released it is a free upgrade. Just putting that out there... Also, Best Buy's buy-back program is absolute shit, have fun getting the equivalent of a pawn shop's offer for your stuff. It makes no sense for Fractal to offer any service like this for Standard/Ultra customers that bought recently. Why? So they can have a boatload of outdated units sitting around? I suppose they could sell them as "factory refurbished," but the company is really small and it's more dangerous for them, business-wise, to do that than to just say those users are SOL.

I know someone who ordered an Ultra not but a few days ago (before the announcement of the 2) and G66 told them they had to pay an extra 600 Euro because they do not have any Standards or Ultras in stock and the only units they will be shipping out next will be the AxeFX II. May not be the case for a US distributor though.

Although all I can think about is Juggernauts avatar...

I'm not sure how shiet goes down in Texas but here in Canada try getting your hardware upgrade through your provider without sucking some serious ... And even then, your signing a new 3 year to get that term price, sooooo

Also, I picked up the black mac book a while back in the month of August and the new line of Apple macbooks came out the following september, looked around, called around, was never offered anything.

Once again to offer the disclaimer, I don't know how things work in Texas with this stuff, but you're way off in terms of the reality of a company losing cash and having stock piles of refurbished shit because the new and improved product has come out.

First of all, I said they do it with their phones specifically, gotta love reading comprehension. 2nd, sorry you live in Canada, sounds like it blows there. Every year I upgrade my iPhone for the new contract price and get 1 year added to my contract with zero hassle. -shrug-

The main point, which I'm glad you took the time and energy to drag out, was that the comparison was wrong. It is.

I'm way off eh? Apparently then my 3 years of successfully managing inventory (purchasing, stock, wholesale, liquidation and more) for a company in a constantly changing market of electronics, which qualifies me to make such claims, was just a bunch of bs... or not. :2thumbsup:

It's been fun!

So what's the play they're offering? Take yours back full pop minus one-way shipping and have you wait yer turn for the II...??

Doesn't sound like a favour, sounds like the masses simply are winning in the "you fucked us over" department. Now it's just a matter of choosing the most reasonable cut off date for Fractal to say yay or nay, and going about their business.

Good thing they do not have I-Phones....................these men would REALLY be pissed off :hys: :hys: :hys:

Dunno what deal he worked, but Fractal Audio will take back a unit past the trial date. You just have to pay a restocking fee. It's not the end of the world if you keep it a few days past the 15 day limit. No clue what their hardline cutoff date is, though.

People are flipping out over on the Fractal Audio forum. It is like watching starving people fighting for food. People are overwhelming Fractal with questions like "my Axe-FX Ultra had reverb similar to the reverb in a bathroom within a castle in the year 1546. Will the Axe-FX II have the year 1548 represented?"

I still think people with Ultras have a damn fine piece of gear on their hands that alot of us here on the forum were salivating over. It is still a solid piece of gear. Like I mentioned before, I just don't know if the Axe-FX II is going to have enough of a tone difference to justify Ultra users paying another $2000. What if the only changes are a headphone jack and a few tweaks here and there? Granted, the upgrades are probably well worth it but I don't know if they are worth $2000. For those of us without any Axe-FX version, it would be great to have a headphone jack and other extras.

Maybe I just haven't read enough about the changes. Like someone said on another forum though, how can you make a mind blowing "real" tone more real? From what I've heard, the Axe-FX Ultra sounds identical to alot of those amps. I heard a Zeppelin solo clip the other day that blew my mind. Sounded identical to the recording.

I think over time it will become apparent the reasons to upgrade. AF2 has more power to do more processing. Ultimately, this is what is going to have to happen for modeling to get there. The AF2 may not have enough to really cover it. It's the next step in an inevitable direction if the quest is realism. As algorithms get more complicated, it will require that power.

My belief is eventually Cliff will not be messing with the Standard/Ultra upgrades much. He might port some stuff over for the time being, but I suspect in a few years Standard/Updates will be few and far between. While it is true Standard/Ultra will sound no worse than their last update, people are going to want the new stuff Cliff puts out. That is part of the allure of the AxeFX.

The Heartbreaker clip? That clip sounds very good, but it is just barely in the ballpark (a very large ballpark) of the original tone. Compare them side by side. Now, whether or not you like the original or not more is another debate.

You sure about that? Want to compare what you pay in taxes compared to me? While you're at it..want to compare quality treatment? Then I'll let you speak to my Canadian buddy across from Potsdamn, NY that came across to get medical treatment because he couldn't wait 4 months..well, he could have but he would've been dead. All is not as it seems or as you're made to believe.

As for the AxeFx II..I just want the USB option   and I was thinking about buying another one so I'm good.

I have a question for Axe Fx owners..do you notice lack of Harmonics with the Axe Fx? I noticed that pinched harmonics are harder to do with the Axe Fx compared to tube amps. ?? ??

Unfortunately it's just like the PC and Apple world - every time you turn around there is another version or upgrade to whatever you own ;)

it's the ADD culture of today. everyone wants the best new cutting edge thing to brag about NOW. yesterday's best is now the lamest thing ever today. coupled with the gear flipping frenzy thinking you can hold value indefinitely on gear and overnight watching that shoot down the crapper...it's a perfect storm.

have to say fractal set this reaction up themselves by allowing their "family" of users to feel like they were all in on this cozy insider revolution together, and then this surprise release severes that notion in the blink of an eye, leaving broseph in his undies clinging to a chunk of cyberdriftwood rounding the horn of Bora Bora trying to sell a scuzzy drive to steve jobs.

to really get the most out of the box you have to research info, commit tons of time and experimentation to understand what works for you, and deal with a plethora of myopic types to eventually obtain the info you desire to gain. not everyone but i'm with ventura on the general dislike for that forum mentality.

i still suspect one of the reasons the box is so popular is because it might be the first time many players were exposed to such high quality effects when they may have first investigated it for the amp sims side. it's what made the patches palatable for me. i wouldn't dream of using that box without a myriad of peripheral internal appointments.
