To relate it back to the musical world, its more like what keyboard players deal with. Keyboards become out dated pretty quickly. For example I have a Kurzweil PC2X, yet Kurzweil has the PC3X out. Does that make my PC2X suck, no still getting the same sounds out of it and I am happy. My used value of the PC2X dropped, but that only affects me if I go to sell the PC2X.
The 2 biggest new features I really like of the Axe-FxII are the headphone out (saves buying an headphone amp) and a USB connection (Even as a keyboard player I suck at midi).
