Sounds awesome Keith! Love it! Is that you on vocals? Great job!

No, not me on vocals. I'm an AWFUL singer! I wish I could sing though...I'd be a one man band lol

That sounded PRO

Thanks man! The bassist has a home studio in his garage. He's been tinkering in there for years lol

Everything was mixed/mastered by him. Not much fancy studio gear either. Very basic stuff.

nothing like a little apc and tool on the radio!

Yea, this song is very Tool-like....each song we do kinda has a different vibe to it though, tbh.

Bump for anyone else interested in the Kemper. I've had it for over a year now.

sounded killer Keith! You guys are getting better and better!

did you mix the amps into one profile, or did you use several layers of the different amps?

I used two tracks of the Splawn on the left, and two tracks of the Diezel on the right.

Sounds great Dimebag11!

I'm leaning toward getting a Kemper myself after hearing those tones!
I'm getting ready to track for my band's next album (which I'll be doing from home) and have considered the Kemper, iso box, or just using a reamping service.
I'm tracking from home and basically can't be much more than practice levels that you can talk over.

I've found a real limitation in tracking with the intent of re-amping, in that my Vox Tonelab modeler just does not FEEL right and it makes me play differently. It's stiff, nuances are missing, and Pinch harmonics are a real bitch to achieve for some reason- amongst other things.

I've got a few questions about the Kemper which I'm sure have been asked before-

1. Does it FEEL/react like the real thing? (Does a Splawn feel like a Splawn, an AC30 like an AC30?)
2. Can you get musical feedback happening like a true turned up amp? I'm assuming I'd having to monitor with at least my studio monitors on to get this.
3. Are you monitoring thru your studio monitors or thru headphones?
4. Are you tracking with a cabinet on or just going in direct?
5. Do the profiles out there include options of mic and mic pre? (Ribbon, SM57, Vintech pre's, etc?)

I'm tracking from home and basically can't be much more than practice levels that you can talk over.
I know everyone wants to sound like they're in a million dollar studio while not waking up the kids or pissing off your neighbors, but I'm hoping I can get pretty damn close with a Kemper :)

Feedback from anyone else with Kemper experience appreciated :)

Thanks Man! Let me answer these questions for you. First, I'll just say I've had the Kemper for over a year, and I'm always 100% satisfied with it! Whether playing live on a P.A. or at home on my studio monitors.

1. Does it FEEL/react like the real thing? (Does a Splawn feel like a Splawn, an AC30 like an AC30?)
Yes, very much so. I will say a lot of the profiles don't sound GREAT and need a fair amount of tweaking. I'm not much of a tweaker, I'm more of a plug n' play guy...but I do enjoy tweaking with the Kemper.

2. Can you get musical feedback happening like a true turned up amp? I'm assuming I'd having to monitor with at least my studio monitors on to get this.
It's possible, but not easy. You'll have to run the Kemper hot, with little to no noise gate...if you do that, it's definitely attainable.

3. Are you monitoring thru your studio monitors or thru headphones?
I always use my studio monitors. Headphones just don't cut it with the Kemper. I will say this, the Dynaudio bm5a mkII are the best monitors I've heard for the Kemper. I couldn't afford them, and think that the M-Audio bx5s are GREAT for the money.

4. Are you tracking with a cabinet on or just going in direct?
Always 100% digital/direct.

5. Do the profiles out there include options of mic and mic pre? (Ribbon, SM57, Vintech pre's, etc?)
When you select which cabinet you want on your profile you'll see that each was mic'd differently, with a different mic/pre etc....other than changing to a cabinet with the mic/pre you want, you can't actually choose your mic/pre.

I've thought of selling my Kemper to get the rackmount version, since it never leaves my house anymore...and I have a desk with rack mounts on it. I have TONS of amazingly tweaked profiles on mine if you are interested in purchasing it, let me know as I might be willing to part with it for the right amount. A lot of the profiles I have are purchased profiles too.

...and for what it's worth, I'm not fond of re-amping either. I feel that you lose a lot of feel, and just sort of sounds "different." I much prefer tracking with the Kemper. I don't think I'll ever be without a Kemper. I have no need for the powered version either. I think I'd rather a Kemper, non powered, and a Splawn QR halfstack than a powered Kemper.

Also, good luck finding anything that feels and sounds better at bedroom levels.

I listened to rock radio for the first time in a long time last night, and that was by far better than anything I heard. Better guitar tone, better song, better vocals. I'd buy your bands disk for sure.

Shit, thanks man! If only we had connections with record companies. I bet we'd kill it!
