As a stand alone fx unit.not to use modelers.sitting in a rack for live use, with the new mastermind Gt,how do these fx stand up?

I'm thinkin the snax or an eventide are overkill for my needs.

I would put a G-Major2 above all those and used it could be cheaper.

THE GSP1101 effects are ok but it's a tone sucker also.

I've not had 1 problem with the GSp1101 with tone suckage at all. I think it would have more to do with the type of loop used instead of the actual unit.

Oh Yeah, I forgot to mention that's just my experiance with it!

I guess it depends on what you want to do. If you just want effects a g-major or any of rocktrons would work just fine. There is no need to go nuts with this stuff if you are just going to use it live because once it hits the PA, no one will know if you are using a 2k box or $100 box lol!
If you want to use an all in one unit and also have some stomp boxes available, the GSp1101 would work fine with the 4 cable method. Its what Im currently using with my Fortin Modded JVM and I have not experiance any tone suckage lol. The effects are pretty basic and easy to use but if you want something that has more parameters then Id look elsware.

GSp 1101 have it for a couple years use only for fx w Herbert. Flawless!

Having gone from the GSP1101 to 11R, I have just a little to add. I can't compare the effects sounds through an amp since I used the modelling, but they both get the job done. I do like the 11R more just based on usability. With the GSP, there were so many different effects options, I found myself playing more with the different effects than just dialing in the sound I had in my head. I also like the interface more as far as simplicity.

Hope this helps,
Jason

I like and use the gsp1101, but I also use it with the floorboard which to me is the big selling point with this unit - works beatifully and no programing, one cat5 cable  No tone suckage with the gsp that I can report, sounds better than the axe-fx I had previously for 4-cable purpose.
If I was using a separate midi controller I'd probably go with the gmajor2 though.

I love my gsp1101, no tone suckage at all with my Rhodes and 4CM. It did take some work to make sure all the levels were set correctly though on the digitech and amp. Definitely upgrade to the beta firmware, it add some very cool features/fx. Can't beat it for ~$300

The gsp1101 will work well, i'd just add it's limitations in terms of effects chaining, as in 1 and only 1 of everything

(ie. only 1 type of delay active, 1 modulation effect, 1 reverb)

Certainly enough for most uses, but if you want to go crazy with various effects chaining the pod probably has more options there, but not sure how well it integrates into the setup, there are probably other rack units that work a charm and are cheaper too for stand alone effects
