Anybody ever GANK the screws out of their humbuckers? I’ve tweaked the screws a few times when I was younger but never removed them. YouTube genius says it basically turns them into quiet single coils. Just curious… I’ll see if I can find the video….

I usually set the screws to the radius of the FB w/o getting extreme but its not mandatory.

Never tried that, and pretty much live on the bridge humbucker. Can't for the life of me imagine wanting to turn a super strat into a single coil guitar.

If you want to go down the rabbit hole further; Changing the height of each screw can affect and change individual string sound. Screw type can also affect the magnetic field and overall sound. I swapped out the standard polepieces on my newest set of pickups with hex head. Changed the mid character in various places in the EQ.

I have done that before back in the day. You just never really hear of anybody doing that anymore. Same thing with cutting shotgun shells. It kinda works… it’s science….TRUST IT YOU BIGOTS!!!!

I think I saw the video you’re referring to. The idea is to remove screws on 1 side and leave the polls in the other side and it reduces to a single coil. Sounds like cool trick but a novelty.
