Almost appears lately that he's trying to prove he doesn't "need" a lot of gain to play or something. Like you guys said, seems to fight the amp. Turn the damn gain up George!!! No one will complain.

Lately though, we're hard-pressed to find him bringing it, tone wise or technique wise. I just get the feeling that he's going for more of a stream of consciousness thing, and looking for the rare, totally spontaneous magical musical moment rather that just licks and tone that he's played a million times before. Of course, this is just my theory.
Unfortunately, for the listeners. . .that magical moment has not come yet.

I started listening to George in the mid-80s, and I've loved his style since. I remember the REH videos
But these days, most only guitar players listen to those three guys.
Tbh, Andy, being recording and Internet-savvy, is probably the one with most knowledge about getting his playing out to the masses. Technically, they're all three freak of nature in their own ways

I agree, he's more a free form player these days. Lots of

.His pre-written compositions for the most part is what I grew up on and was a major influence that got me into playing back in the day.
Who the fuck am I though, he's earned his stripes and does this wherever he wants whenever he wants it seems.

I idolized this guy... And would never want to say anything bad...
But... It appears he's no where near what he once was
I know he bad a bad facial injury from a BMX accident... some say he never recovered totally from it.
I don't think the Diezel's are helping... I had a herbert for a good while and tried everything to get comfortable with it.. I did a Channel 2- gain mod
Tried different speakers and cabs... But I couldn't play it worth a dam! Just too fucking stiff... If your old school and used to loose amps it's a tuff
change. George used that 68' Plexi for a long time, and they just have a feel that's easy to play... I'm certainly not good enough to play a Diezel
I just could not get used to that Tightness... It just was dry, and stiff as a board.... Great for some, but not for me, OR.. George Me Thinks!
