thank you so much dude!Kapo_Polenton":mw85dh2e said:When you listen to those isolated tracks it is amazing how ordinary thousand dollar amps and 2-4 amps all mixed together can sound. Room sound doesn't seem to matter as everything is mostly close mic'd. Everything is noisier and you hear the nuances. You really hear that hiss on the lead showing he was probably boosting that already out of control plexi to get that saturation for the legato lines and picking. Goes to show how good and important producers are as the final mix is really the game changer. I can def. hear the difference in the iso Wicked Sensation track compared to what ended up on the album. Album produced version def. has a bit more sizzle and cut. That said, the Axe doesn't have the smoothness of the real deal and it is apparent. Digital artifacts simply are not analog/tube artifacts. Pumped through a power amp and recorded with a mic would change all that for sure though. As usual though, incredible playing. Rocco you are a tasteful and accurate player with great vibrato. Always a treat to listen to your takes on this stuff.
Your playing is top notch, as ever. The problem is you’ve stepped onto holy ground and expected to walk out unchallenged. I’m joking, a bitRoccoPezzin":pwmb1o4t said:Thank you man, preciate itNot to state the obvious, but you do realize this is the raw track, before mixing/mastering right? If you compare it to the record it's got more bass/low mids and less highs
Actually it's on the arppegiated part...panhead":3ble11qh said:The only SLO was on river of love solo you can hear it. Marshall68 and Laney late 60`s dominated most of that recording.

Yes...seriously. I can't believe it either. A waste of time. Like Revolution or T&N...it will suck no doubt.Kapo_Polenton":1n42ey0q said:paulyc":1n42ey0q said:Anyone else seen the "news" that George and Oni are re-recording Wicked Sensation ??? This shit has to stop...
Seriously! what's the point? I saw Oni a few years back, great show but he clearly struggled in parts because he's 20+ years older. That album is as perfect as it gets. What is there to re-record?? The tones will be modern sampled drum replacement, sound too polished, and all the rawness will be gone. George will also overplay, change, experiment, or use too much phaser. I think he has refound his touch the last few years but still, that original material is untouchable. Leave it already. Nothing good can really come of this.

This REH video was done during the recording of Wicked.

Thanks man! Yeah love that video, must have watched it a million times! The tone on the record is different from the one in the video though, if you listen to the intro of Wicked Sensation the guitar has got those sizzle-y highs, once the whole band kicks in they're not that obvious. Of course this is an approximation of the tone, I'm using completely different gear and most importantly I'm not George![]()

In the best sounding clips of that REH video, it looks like the Aspen Pitman 1973 Purple Superlead was on in the clips with the Amber Quilted Strat. That amp eventually had problems not sure if the power or Output transformer went. It's kinda crazy listening to the ISO track and the REH vid how little gain George uses, the tone has clarity lots of crunch and just enough compression when he dig s in, it's is just enough to get it there, the rest is George's tenacity, same as EVH's formula, PLEXI Superlead.
George has never kept it a secret... his favorite amps are Plexi's and Superleads, even after all the different amps he's used he is still using the them on the road today.
I went to a Lynch clinic around 2004 and he was using the Randall module lynch box, it was alright but nothing special and the amp hissed horribly, he blamed it on an old effect pedal...![]()
he did tell me he thinks he was using a Duncan Distortion at that time, but he also loves PAF's too, he was in a good mood that night and was not arrogant at all with the audience and signed and posed for pictures with everyone who wanted one and did not rush anyone through. I always heard the opposite about his demeanor with fans.
Rocco your vid sounds great though, I always enjoy your stuff. You get some of the best digital tones out there... but i guess it does translate as a digital representation of a analog sound no matter how close it get's.
In complete agreement with you bothpaulyc":nvjixe4d said:Yes...seriously. I can't believe it either. A waste of time. Go back and watch it again. There’s a yellow Boss pedal on the floor. Either an OD 1, SD-1, or , less likely, a Turbo OD.harddriver":2g7id7jy said:RoccoPezzin":2g7id7jy said:psychodave":2g7id7jy said:It’s cool, but it’s really buzzy sounding. Playing is great though.

Laney Supergroup 60`s plexi more or less they made 100 watt Tony Iommi etc and a 60 watt both non master volumeKapo_Polenton":4awfgk4z said:panhead":4awfgk4z said:The only SLO was on river of love solo you can hear it. Marshall68 and Laney late 60`s dominated most of that recording.
Which Laney is it? Essentially an old Marshal sort of deal ? They were all in the similar headspace in that era. Those old amps are fat but they cut when the volume goes up!
