Iirc thump brought the place into being, no?Oh man, way before Brad King. I can't quite remember details but I remember Bob Savage was 1 of the 1st people here, and I know Sgt Thump (Chris Snider) had it also before Brad.

Friedman is a master at setting up amps for unbelievable sound in the room.Just listened to the syn Kali and Friedman Jose back to back and I think I can hear a common lineage, however the Jose came across more like an amp-like big sound (well I guess that's what it is) vs the Kali which gave me the impression of a more focused but also somewhat smaller sound. Would be nice to hear it through some big bottle power stage..
It's good that it seems we're coming full circle back to era-defining sounds, be it a clipper 1959, a Jose, recto, Mk Boogie, X88..
Would be nice for Suhr to re-release his SE-based modes and with the XTC Pandora we'll be fully back to mid 90s and I can feel relevant again considering I was young and broke first time around.. probably a blessing too bc my ears are shot enough that cannot discern Vietnamese transformers or pcb vs p2p in a real mix.
Sounds killer. I don't understand why you got told off. Weaksauce.
Especially the whole "I'm not fuckin' around, man".I’d rather get into trouble with a volume war over killer gear than pull a gay stunt like that.

Sounds good!
Original Cali = 3 tube gain stages + CF, diode clipping
Killer Kali = 4 tube gain stages + CF, no diodes
Newer Fortin Cali (the production one with white headshell) = combination of 3 gain stages + diodes and additional tube gain stage via plate-driven stack.
Both Fortin and Gower did them.
That makes sense, but my Cali-modded JCM800-Super Bass was wayyyy prior to him releasing his own amps. It actually was quite a bit prior to him stopping his mods as well .. It has the 2 different switchings for diode clipping and 2 different gain pots, bright switchings for both gains, tightloose, mid -shift, and depth and nice parallel or series loop all added. Probably 1 of the 1st ones sold and it was to a rig-talker who no longer is on this forum. . I have no idea if he ever started doing these kind of mods again after he joined Randall, came out with own amps, etc . ... . I'll all set for amps, but if you lived closer to me I woud've talked your ear off and thrown money in oyur direction for sure! Here's the front of the old Fortin. (Amp is from the 80's, but mods were probably around early 2000's)
The story with Fortin and Gower is that the Killer Kali was developed by them both and Fortin worked with gower to do the KK for the UK market that had huge demand which Fortin struggled to provide for. They even made sure they used the same chassis punches so that quality was assured.
Over time though Fortin got big and Dan morphed the mod into his own being which IMO got softer and more gain. The Fortin version retains the bite that I remember his mods always having. @RedPlated has a Fortin HG Jose that I would love to own. Nothing special about it but his Jose mods were next level and he stopped doing mods to sell his own amp line long before he went to Randall.
TLDR; the Fortin KK is the OG and that’s why it has the teeth. That module alone would be a reason to own synergy gear. Hopefully Friedman offers a module with the Jose mods. Round it off with a Bogner module and you’re set![]()
Well hope this was a good one then?Been waiting for good clips of this...
Well this will certainly be cheaper but it won’t sound like the Friedman. It’ll still bet a faster attack and more “Fortin-esque” in the mids, but the vibe will be there for sure.I'm liking this one..so is Fortin just another jose mods sort of guy? Because it sounds like this one will be a much cheaper way to go for that sound than a wait list Jose Friedman.
Love that you left the last part in there lol, that guy was a prick but hey, he might have been tired of all the noodling through out the day. There is still a nicer way to ask though.
Yeah for sure the Syn through a proper power section is going to sound awesome. Even with those little EL84’s there was something there. It felt good.Because the little lunchbox sounded badass and you cannot sell shit with talking when a neighbor lunchbox is taking away your business.
Talk is cheap and badass is badass. So little dude syndrome kicked in and crybaby California mode was engaged. Maybe the person that bitched just needs to have something to crank that sounds just as badass. So it was a volume thing. The Boutique Amps booth was right across from Iconic Guitars (That was Kevin, their owner) and I guess the guy from BAD that you can see in my vid dialing the amp just had the level too high. Had nothing to do with me. I only had hands on the guitar.Sounds killer. I don't understand why you got told off. Weaksauce.
Yeah man it’s a fast attack for sure. Was surprise by how fast this module tracked quick rhythms when I played it
pretty lame. It's friggin NAMM, not sure what he was expecting.Yeah for sure the Syn through a proper power section is going to sound awesome. Even with those little EL84’s there was something there. It felt good.
The KK will definitely be a tighter attack and less hair around the note but that vibe is for sure there. You could still Dokken the fuck out of it!

Bummer is Kevin and I have been friends or at least friendly for at least 5 or 6 years and I’m just not sure when he rolled up that way. We’ve never had an issue. It was certainly uncalled for. A simple “hey Jer, would you mind…”
Yall know me well enough to know, I’d have totally been cool and apologized even though I wasn’t really the issue. You see how that went.
So yeah I decided to leave it in the video.
