I ended up sending the Synergy Marshall JMP back and got a Fortin Killer Kali module. Love it! This thing covers clean Marshall tones all the way up to brutal.

I love my Synergy SLO II module and comparing them, the Killer Kali definitely has more gain. I still like turning the gain down a bit and using boost pedals though.

So glad I picked this up! The Violence switch is awesome. I can see why people feel like this is a tweak machine but can definitely find some controls and stick with them. I have found a great plexi type thing on one channel and then a nice brutal one one the other and going to keep things there.

Those modules almost make me want a Synergy rig.

Yeah, I like that one a lot. It is gainy, but not as thick and saturated as many of the other high gain modules.
You nailed the description with that. I guess that makes sense since it comes from that Marshall dna.

The killer kali module sounded badass. If you get a chance, try the pitbull module. It is awesome also

The Killer Kali is what I'm leaning towards for my first module. A lot of demos default to uber-chug gain, but I've seen enough to be impressed by its more classic-style 80s/AFD tones.

I dont even think the KK is best for uber chug because it is not as saturated and doesn't have a ton of bass. The Uber or Drect is better at that type of sound. I like it for more of a thrashier sound.

I would look at the SLO II module. I have that and the Killer Kali and the SLO II has more low end and more of that tone that is easy to dial in. The Killer Kali has a bunch of switches and knobs, lol.

Both sounded killer and I can dial them both to sound similar vein. The Killer Kali has more options to sound brighter.

SLO module is on my radar for sure.

I would say the four I'm really looking at are:

1) Killer Kali. Seems to be an all-rounder Jose modded 800?

2) 800, whether it be the discontinued 800 module or the upcoming (yet still to be announced) Marshall licensed module.

3) SLO II. In my Fractal the X88 was my main preamp until I started using the JMP-1 (my interest in Synergy really started when I was thinking about getting an old JMP-1, and realized that technically running Synergy modules into Fractal's JMP EQ model would do the same but even more).

4) 6505. For me the 5150 sound is a sometimes thing, not an every day thing, so that's the kind of use case Synergy is perfect for.

Everything will be running into my DSL100HR's loop return, Suhr RL and back into an IR loader.

My basic sound is essentially 800 plus SD-1, varying from more crispy and bright Slash sounds to heavier Zakk sounds.

I like the 800 sound with an SD-1 in front. The Killer Kali is awesome but just be aware that it can be a gain onslaught with certain switches, knobs, etc, lol.

You can definitely get a nice tone and control that. Some days I flip the Violence switch and some days I don't. I still need to tweak but I think gain knobs at 2 or 3 and bright switches in middle with a boost pedal is pretty solid.

I recently got the JVM410H but it had an issue so I had to send it back for another.. then the replacement stopped working so I just sent it back this time for a refund. I loved the tones in that amp but I'm giving up on it for now

I was thinking I would get the Killer Kali but I haven't found a video demo of it yet that I like.. I was thinking this might be the perfect Marshall style module. Anybody got any cool demos playing 80s metal and hard rock?

Maybe I'll just get the BE Deluxe Module.

The Killer Kali is the best Synergy module I've tried. If you were looking for a JVM, the KK module is better (IMO...using a Fryette 2/90/2)

Just my two cents, I love the Killer Kali and SLO-II modules that I have and have been craving a BE DLX. The Killer Kali has more switches and can sound the most "Slayer!!!" but doesn't have the lows the SLO-II has.

I use boosts with both but the Killer Kali can do without a boost pretty easy. I've heard good things about the BE DLX.

Sidenote, that sucks that the Marshall JVM amps both broke. We spend so much on gear and we just want consistency and sucks when things break brand new.

The KK gets more extreme than the Be-Dlx. It has more gain and gets more of the bass cut mid quack thing going on. The Be-Dlx is smoother and thicker.

Both are more modded Plexi based. I am waiting for something that is more of a higher gain modded JCM800 type sound.

The Uber Blue channel can also do the modded Marshall type thing well, crossing pretty similar to what the KK can do.

If synergy is able to release a bigger power amp that integrates the modules in a similar way the smaller one they came out with last year does - I’m all in. I just hope they don’t load too much IR loader gadgets inside and keep the focus quality components and features and not a neutered power amp like the current one seems like (yeah… from many sound demo’s… I haven’t owned and tested one. Guilty)

I agree about God IR loaders, etc. I just want the gig ready amp and the more bells and whistles a company adds, the more something can go wrong. Just need a 50IR!
