Song is good. Ghost is a great band IMO.

I first heard of them when they opened up for Maiden. They had pure metal tones, guitar playing was great. I became an instant fan. Their albums aren’t nearly as metal as their live show.

I actually like ghost...Seen them a few times. They definitely have "evolved" into more of a pop oriented act over the last 5 years. In terms of the opening / main guitar riff of this song (and the one posted below), I feel like there is a Jake E Lee influence:

From that same album;
Spillways...basically if you do a mash-up of Abba's "Money Money", some early Bon Jovi + the Pokemon theme song... :ROFLMAO:

By the way, I really like Ghost.
They had to grow on me, because when I first heard Opus when it was released, I always felt this lack of gain and 'restraint' in their riffing...and now I think it's awesome. I've seen 'em live 3 or 4 times...
They've grew more poppy over the years, but that first album is basically like Blue Oyster Cult was playing Merciful Fate covers...in a good way!
And their cover version of "Here Comes the Sun" ranks right up there with awesome covers done right, in a completely new way...like Joe Cocker's "With a little help". They made this lightfooted, breezy, springy song all doom and gloom.

The Chorus sounds disappointingly reminiscent of Alice Cooper's Desmond Child written hit "Poison". Ghost also should have named their new album 'Trash'.
Didn’t Desmond write Bon Jovi’s biggest hits also?

I don’t dislike that they went in an 80’s or let’s say, more polished direction. I just dislike that they’re shit at it.

They have some cool songs like Square Hammer, He Is, Spillways, etc but Ghost is one of those bands who are almost really good but there’s something holding the songs back from being truly great. Like a lot of their musical baselines are fine, but there’s always something missing. For example they make a lot of strange note / chord progression choices that seem to be made just to subvert expectations as opposed to actually sounding good, etc.

Also, they want to be seen as these irreverent “oh my goodness did you just hear the BLASPHEMING those young men did, just wait until JESUS hears about this!” Satanist edgelords, but they kind of come off as pre-teens who just learned to cuss, trying to swear a blue streak to seem cool and grown up but it’s just kinda awkward. It feels like they’re so close to shock rock but they mostly come off as mall goth kids.

I got another song for ya then: Ratt - Givin' Yourself Away.

When I first heard it, I didn't know Desmond Child was involved, but when that pre-chorus dropped (at 0m37s), that's some signature material for him! I immediately looked it up afterwards and lo and behold, he was the (co-)songwriter. :cool:🎯

And sure, this could've easily been an Aerosmith/Bon Jovi/Def Leppard song... Who knows, maybe they shopped around with it?

That song is slightly less worse than Ebola

Didn't like the tones, personally. Sounded small. Kinda like a really nice head, but run into a 1x8 cab.
