Surprised Gibson isn't charging $299 to be honest
Yeah, and the first 4 of those albums are the tones most people after his vibe chase. Me included. It came stock in his signature SGs. The pickup was designed to sound like the bridge pickup in his Jaydee Old Boy, but in a standard humbucker housing.
I think the first recording with that guitar was the Reunion live album. He used it for the songs tuned down to C#.
Any Gibson he uses has those pickups in it. He had two of his signature SGs, one in red and one in black. The red one was stolen at the Dio tribute concert. The black one was used on the 13 tour for the new songs. He also has a white two-pickup SG Custom and a black SG Standard with Floyd Roses, used for Mob Rules on the last Dio tours.
His only main guitar with P90s was his Monkey SG, which he only used on the first six Sabbath albums/tours. He retired the Monkey in favor of John Birch and Jaydee guitars, which use high output minihumbuckers. He had a brief endorsement using Patrick Eggle guitars with a Seymour Duncan signature humbucker, which is still available from the Custom Shop as the El Diablo, before getting in bed with Gibson with the signature humbucker.
Says it's 16k. And, sold out.....Well ,,,, if the Devil made it ,,,,,,,, might be worth the coin .
It would HAVE to be ,,,,,,,, hot ,,,,,,![]()
I'd pay for a Gibson over a free BKP item. The 4-5 of them I tried were all terrible.Gibson running amok in BKP territory![]()
That looks badass other than the tuners![]()
Diablo uses a Teisco -------
Yes.I love his mid 80's - 90's tone; Seventh Star is fantastic, Tony Martin albums & related live tours were great.
I assume this period would have been mainly the JayDee guitars & pickups?
Seems like an axe JAMES TYLER drew a lot of inspiration from. That looks badass other than the tuners
One thing I can say so far, this pickup is heavy. It's a sealed metal case, not a cover, and there is definitely an aura to it as well. Thanks for sharing the details; I remember the sad news of John's passing. I got his book, looks nice I still need to dig into it.
That's great to know his son keeps the business alive; those pickups in the P90/miniHum size sure look great. Looking forward to your feedback on it.
Putting together a Tony inspired old SG Special has been on my project list for a long time.
That has fat rails on it just like the Lollar DB. I have the Lollar, the thing is like hitting a hammer against an anvil when you pick the notes. Incredible pickup and yes, very heavy also. One thing I can say so far, this pickup is heavy. It's a sealed metal case, not a cover, and there is definitely an aura to it as well.
Hi I’m TonyIf Tony needs money he should set up a Go Fund Me.
