Anyone play one? Seems kinda interesting, p-90 in the bridge, Zebra BurstBucker 3 in the bridge and a Kill switch toggle. Only thing I'm not digging is the 50's style neck. I found one semi-cheap localy.

The black one looks sweet to me. I'd just replace those fugly wooden knobs.

I just dont get the marketing of these with unfinished tops

Until I am told otherwise it was going to be a Standard or Classic and the carve went wrong so it become a BFG.

Meh, of course they're gonna get backlash.

The 2 I played, both sounded like a damn decent LP. They played as good as most LPs do off the shelf. You certainly don't have to worry about dinging the finish at a sweaty gig.

'sbout all I look for in a guitar. thumbs up.

I can dig the $900 one. What gets me is the brass balls it takes to sell the same guitar 'limited edition' version for $3600. Unless I'm missing something here....

its the only lp that ever looked somewhat cool to me. I personally dig the wooden knobs.

neck is ok, and the pickups in it are SAWEET! great for modern styles. only issue is that the guitar feels too much under QC, like too many rough edges.

No "backlash" here. Just honest opinions. I didn't think my buddies played or sounded bad, but it was definitely "weird" to me. Also, the fretboard was as dry as a bone.

Most hosewood is dry to the bone. Just put some Fret Doctor on it.

I also think the "rough" look of the BFG looks great.

Ive had one for about a year now, it's the first Gibson i've ever owned and I'll never sell it. The guitar is fairly light, and resonates so well because of the chambering. The Pickups are smokin and really articulate! I love the raw feel as i dont stick together when im playing and it just looks unique. Most people have never seen a guitar like that, i changed the knobs to black speed knobs and set it up with .11's and have been in love since!

cool guitars for the money!

Thanks for the opinions guys...I may have to go check this thing out!

LOL. Dry is an understatement. The things feel like they dehydrate you by being in the same room with 'em.
Most likely, end up smelling like armpit and balls after a few gigs.

But still, I think they're cool. The 'backlash' I was referring too, is the marketing Gibson is trying to do with them. In true Gibson form, they're trying to force something to be 'hip'... and 'hip' kids hate that.

Ehhh, they're kinda strange. That really rough unfinished top, the wooden knobs, the lack of a truss rod cover, etc... all seem weird to me. The other guitar player in my last band had one and it buzzed and hummed like crazy in both the neck and bridge positions. Maybe something was wrong with it? Not sure. I tried to resolder the ground connections for him and it didn't fix anything.

I had that problem, I figured out that the shielding on the pickup wiring was touching the Killswitch common ground.... I just insulated the pickup wires with some electrical tape and it went away!

Not my cup of tea. Never got along with P90s. Don't like the "rustic" look.
