Just curious what you guys think of the going rates and what you think you would be willing to pay for a used VHT/Fryette UltraLead and CLX.

I remember the last CLX I had a few years back I practically had to give it away to make a sale at 1600.00 and now with the short supply of people selling I have noticed one a guy is asking 3 grand which no way in hell I would pay anything close to that and just recently had a guy contact me on an Ultralead but wanted 2800.00 .. I guess I picked the wrong time to want one:bash::D

I hear yeah, I sold a non eq CLX last year for $1K .

Yep,prices have gone back up. I bought four ultraleads within a year(1 and a spare for both me and a "bro")at 1600 each like 9 years ago. Now they are usually 2k minimum...and they are not as prevalent as they used to be on the secondary market. But I can honestly say that if I didn't have the one I have now,I would buy the first one that showed up for 2k and dump whatever else I had to pay for it.

I am realistic with the current gear climate during this pandemic about paying more and was thinking in the range between 2200 to 2400 but close to 3 grand is crazy really and not that they are not well made and great amps but normal resale as mentioned has usually been quite low.

I think a lot of these prices are fake tbh, but then idk when it’s gonna break the other way but it will happen

Prices on VHT/Fryette and Soldano have gotten nuts recently. I remember the last UL I bought I paid $1200 for. You could buy a Hotrod for $800. Now both are over 2 grand. Crazy.

Yeah, with this pandemic and everyone or mostly a lot of people staying home not gigging out etc. it seems people are hanging onto their gear and it's really driving the used prices up like crazy. This is not good for a gear whores world...

With an EQ

UL $1800 - $2k

CLX - “Should be” - $1400 - $1600 depending on the condition, etc.

I talked with Fryette the other day and he said the new release of the Ultra Lead will be this summer. I am looking forward to the new amp and willing to wait for it. The used market is ridiculous on virtually all things right now.

Any info about the new amp? Changes etc...

I’ll be buying a new UL when they release, but based on past history of everything they’ve ever released, I’m not expecting it any time soon.

it’ll probably be 2 years after they actually officially announce it.

As I said in a thread several months ago, he wouldn't give me much information aside from the changes being positive and well worth making. From what I was able to gather they are usable tweaks expanding versatility and usability and bringing out the better qualities of the amp itself. I expect it to be a bit more modern and heavier sounding and the cleans to be improved, etc. It was already awesome (IMO) but I expect it to be even better now. Same as the Deliverance amps. He seemed very confident about the release date. It would have been sooner if the china hadn't hit.
