Good speaker/stereo system to jam with

I'm looking for a good wireless or wired speaker system that I can use to play along to music with my amp. Yeah, I could go with a PA system or something but I live in an apartment. So I'm looking for something compact and simple. Should I go with studio monitors? I'd need a separate amp or something to power them? I don't know anything about that sort of thing. Would a set of powered monitors be better than something like a bluetooth speaker from Bose or Samsung or something? Jawbone?

Ideally, I'd want speakers large enough to actually put out some decent bass for the drums and such. And something with enough power/headroom to actually let me turn my amp up to a decent volume (not band level obviously). But I don't play at mouse-fart volumes at home either.

There's a 2 x 100 watt bluetooth speaker from Thodio (iBox http://store.thodio.com/collections/frontpage I don't really care about the fancy looks of the thing. But it seems to have some good speakers in it paired with a good amp.

Overpriced? Something else I should be looking at?

line 6 amplifi? if you don't use the amp, it's still a 150 watt Bluetooth speaker system with a 12 and 4 more speakers for a pretty good price compared to the bs prices of others. I had one and it was best as a bt stereo and it's can get LOUD. Compact too.

I got one, Amplifi 150, it's pretty good for playing along with. There's a main output and a guitar output slider in the IPAD or Iphone, or Android app that you can adjust the levels with.

Just buy a couple of powered small PA speakers...really easy to overpower anything else with a guitar amps at volume. Theres a ton of inexpensive but good ones these days

I've toyed around with the Amplifi in a store. It's pretty neat actually. Sounds pretty good. But I'm looking for something I can use along with my regular amp(s). Although the simplicity of the Line6 things is tempting. Dont' have to worry about phase and all that.

But I got to check out some powered studio monitors today and they sound pretty awesome. I have no need to play at super loud volumes and they seem to do the trick even though they're really meant for mixing.

The ones I liked were the M-Audio BX8 D2 and the Focal Alpha. The Yamaha 8" one with the white woofer that's been around for ages was pretty good but sort of falls apart with heavier styles of music. I'm gonna check out some more higher-end ones next week. But that Thodio I linked to in the OP looks pretty dope too. And at 100watts per side it definitely out-powers studio monitors. Although it's only 6" speakers.

But I'll give the Amplifi another try.

Looking at a bunch now. They are pretty big. As in, not sure I can fit one in the room. It'd be about the size of my 2x12 cab hahaha. But these three look decent. I'll have to see if my local GC has them to try out.

Are they going to have the same deep sound as a studio monitor? Most PA speakers I've heard are really bright and "pop" in the highs. Can get very unpleasant and leads to ear fatigue. But I'll try 'em out if I can find one.
