I wasn't in the market for another amp, but I managed to pick up a KSR Gemini on a local deal that I couldn't pass up about 2 weeks ago. I've been wanting to check out a KSR for a long time. I almost ordered a Gemini when they first came on the market, but never pulled the trigger...mainly because I didn't want to lose my ass re-selling it if I didn't like it. Now I wish I had ordered it back then.

Anyway, life got in the way so I hadn't really had a chance to spend some time with it until this weekend, other than a cursory check to make sure everything worked when I bought it. I really like it and it fits right in there with the sound/feel I want out of an amp. Plus I love how tight it can be without a boost. I'm curious what speakers KSR owners are using. I read some post about Celestion A-Type/V-Type combo. I don't know much about those. Anyone using them? What do they compare to.

So far I've tried it with all v30s (Bogner cab), Fane F70s (Fryette FL cab), Alnico Cream/Creamback H75 (Wizard cab) and Scumback M75/H75 (Friedman cab). All sound great. I probably liked it best through the Wizard cab, but I loved the punch from the front-loaded Fryette cab.

Here's a pic...

Cameron cabs loaded with H30s. It's a top 5 head for sure. Glad you are digging yours.

I have a Bruno 412 (like a Bogner) cab loaded with h30's and I thought the were too bass-heavy. I think the Creamback 75's or the A/V-type combo is much more successful at taming the crazy amount of low end that these amps inherently have. I had to dial the bass all the way back on my Gemini heads damn-near to get out of my bass player's territory with that cabinet.

I didn't notice excessive low-end with my cabs. How do the A/V types compare to other more common speakers like the v30, h30, etc.?

Celestion G12H-75 Creambacks. They rip with the Gemini and they are Kyle's fav speaker too.

Maybe you've seen this already. But this is with the 75's (8 ohm versions).

Cool man. I did like my Wizard cabs with the Alnico Cream/Creamback H75 combo the best with this amp. I thought I read a post saying Kyle like the A/V Type combo best with his amps - which is why I was asking about those. I don't need to go down the speaker rabbit hole again. lol I'm happy with H75s blended with other speakers.

I might have misremembered. He said this to me in an email during our chat about speakers:

"Yes, we have shipped a ton of H75 loaded cabs. They are great! The newest KSE album was recorded with one of our 212s loaded with H75s, FWIW."

mhenson42,

As someone who is planning on either a Gemini or Artemis in the near future, I have a question.

Is there anyway you can do miked clips with the Gemini on the Fryette cab with the Fanes? The voicing with the Gain 2 control enabled specifically.

I as well would really love to hear this combination. C'mon bro, Inquiring minds...

I don't have any way to do clips other than an iphone. I do have one of those zoom video recorders that is supposed to do decent videos/recordings. I bought it a few years ago, but I never even opened the box. lol I suppose could try to figure that thing out this weekend.

I use a stock Mesa 2x12 and a KSR 2x12 w/Creamback H75's simultaneously. Honestly I think it'll pretty much work with whatever, they're super adjustable.
