Ralph,
Does your Metro have a master volume? Is it cool and very, very close but not quite there? What specs and trannies did you use?

Thanks

yes. It has a PPIMV.

So far, it sounds like a really good Marshall but It lacks the grind and a bit of gain that Ralle and Mark are getting.
It's pretty much setup for Ralle's specs. I have Mercury magnetic trannies but I was told the Georges heyboer clones might be better.

Chris (gnugear)
is going to send me over a spec that will get me closer to what I am looking for and Im going to try that after I play the amp the way that it is for a while!!

Can you turn it right up?
A lot of that nice grind and compression came from cranking my Super Lead up loud, or at least using a hotplate to hear what the power tubes added.

I tried that using my Marshall SE-100 speaker emulator. I cranked the master volume up more then half way while loading the amp down and it still didn;t have the grind. I'm thinking that I just need a few tweaks and Im done. Im also not sure if the Presence on the amp is working because I can't hear a difference when I turn the knob. it might have gotten jossled loose in shipping.

The thing that intrigues me the most is the BEDROOM VOLUME thing. That is what interests me the most. At volume, AND IN THE RIGHT HANDS, my Mojave Peacemaker, and bone stock 1970 Super Trem can get me close enough. Not at bedroom volume though. As a guy recording in a home studio, that is what I really am looking for.

YES!!! This is frankly the only thing that intrigues me about all of this. I can get as close as I need to get RECORDED with a cranked Mojave PM, but I want to do that at bedroom volume and record any time of day or night without the damn iso cab and shaking the entire house. I will pay HANDSOMELY to the person who delivers this to me. I wish I could get Ralle or Rockstah to just build me an amp, but of course, that ain't gonna happen. I don't want to become an expert myself... I'm (kinda) a guitar player dammit, I don't want to learn how to solder well...

In that case, If I was in your situation, I would buy a fully built metro 12 series plexi and install the jose Master volume yourself. I know for a fact that you can do it.

Couldn't I just remove the PD and install the jose master into my PM?

Yeah, but rockstah and ralle are insisting that the 2203 circuit is giving them exactly what they have been looking for. Rockstah has gone so far as to say the plexi spec amps don't have the feel or the fire that is in THAT sound.

I wouldn't mind doing it if a "Larry" parallel effects loop would work good in it as well.

I think The jose master volume will work fine with an effects loop. Marks clips that I posted was done on a re-issue with a loop.

Well Steve, I know a tech who used to work for Jose at Arrco. He does all my biasing and repairs.

The PPIMV fucks with presence control, since it's messing with the negative feedback. Part of the reason I took my PPIMV out.

Rockstah has a very nice diagram of his preferred MV if you look in his sig on the Metro forum. I bet a tech could install it for you in about a half hour.

I think I may like Ralle's "On Fire" tone better than the original! Me needs to get one of these thingys! :D

Right now I am looking at all my gear and giving it the "can I sell this and get enough to buy a Metro amp kit?" look.
