Got these new pickups installed....volume pot isn't doing anything

I got this complex push/pull series/parallel diagram from DiMarzio for a Fred/PAF Pro pickup set but they take days to answer, if they ever do.

I followed the wiring, checked off everything as I went, and I had the pickups and switch working plugging it into my amp and doing the tap test on the pole pieces and it worked. I put a string on to test for changes in sound and the push/pull pots definitely changed the sound some, as much as I could tell with this low e just barely tight enough to make some noise. The tone also seems to make a difference. The volume, however, doesn't do anything. It's just running full blast.

I double checked my work on the volume pot and I had forgotten to send the middle lug to the hot on the output jack, so I fixed that by installing a wire from the middle lug of the volume to the output jack and the volume still doesn't change, it's just full blast.

Fixed it....the diagram shows a leg of the volume pot being grounded. It's very hard to tell unless you're really scouring the diagram. I grounded that leg and voila, the issue is fixed.

Even with the issue fixed, it’s not really fixed because it’s DiMarzio.

DiMarzios are far superior to anything else on the market. If I inherited a 100% original1963 Strat, I guarantee I could pull the original electronics and pop in some Choppers or Tone Zone Ss and immediately improve the sound.
