Gotta love the Scorps

Earlier on when I was getting into R&R and hard rock, this was one of my top 5 favorite bands. I believe Blackout might have been the first album of theirs I purchased. After that, I ended up getting all of the older material with Uli which was actually what got me hooked on the band. Their older live album is one of the best ones to own. First time I saw them was during the Blackout tour in SF. Which I believe the bill was Saxon, Iron Maiden, and Scorps but memory may be getting the best of me. After Love at First Bite, I lost interest in the direction they and other bands took. In this video, it looks like Jabs is having his pedals controlled offstage? Based on that video Klaus's voice really is nothing like it was in the past. He looks tired and lacking energy which is the opposite image I have of him over the years. I am sure he has been through a lot with that demanding position at 64 years old.

Paul,there used to be a great scorps tribute band in chicago about 4 years ago.seen them about 5 times.they were southsiders.unfortunately,the band was only around for like 2 years or so,but man they did a great job and their singer sounded just like klaus meine ..there's also a couple good UFO tribute bands in chicago that i've seen before.Force It,Lights Out and Rock Bottom are the 3 that i know of and have seen....good 'chit,mang!!!

Lovedrive. My drummer and bass player are in that band. They are back out playing now but just got another singer. I have no idea how he sounds.

Also the drummer was also a singer in a UFO tribute which I beleive was Force It.

I don't know man I just saw them in Montreal and yes his voice was not as strong as WW live in the 80s .but he still hit a lot of the high notes and crystal clear.
And for all the lack of constant running around Klaus does not do (probably saving his breath) Matthias and Rudy move pretty much the whole time
I know they have played the songs a hundred times but they really do look like they are having fun with little concentration.
They will run in the middle of solos jumping around like they are 20.

Seriously so glad i caught the final sting tour .I think it was better than the Crazy world I saw 15 years ago

Early Scorpions tone =

I remember an article with Rudolf and he said when he couldn't find enough Sylvania 6Ca7s for his Marshalls, and tried something else, his tone was never as good.

I always liked their sound. I remember in the late 70's walking into Bleeker Bob's in the Village and they were playing Scorpions Polar Nights from the Virgin Killer album and I bought it on the spot.

I picked up Blackout on vinyl a couple of weeks ago. Mathias Jabs is on fire on that one. As good as Schenker imho.
