Guitar Cables, what brand are you using?

I broke down and purchased 1 expensive cable, a Mogami Platinum. It sounded like it let the entire signal through. Great for a warm guitar. Not necessary what I'd use for a bright guitar. There is a difference between your run of the mill cable and a Monster Rock but, there is even more of a difference in tone between the Mogami Platinum and a Monster Rock! I use mine for recording applications as its a $100+ cable.

Otherwise I use Platinum Waves Circuitbreaker & Custom Pro cables lately.

I use Monster Rock. I love 'em, they sound great and are super easy to get replacements if needed...but I have never needed to replace one.
+1
I would like to try Colossal though

George L's for instrument and effects/pedal board. Monster cable from heads to cabs....

I'm using the Modern Classic...the Brooklyn is cool too. The Brooklyn I think is better for metal since it has such a quick response and adds to the "chug" sound. The Modern Classic I like because it's more neutral and really just shows what's coming out of your guitar. I used to use Evidence too, but I didn't like the stiffness either, but I couldn't find anything that sounded as good until these.

Good to know. I'm getting some Modern Classics. I read the desciptions and the Brooklyn reminds me of the Monster Rock cable I use on a bright Marshall, cuts the fizz, so maybe the highs are tamed too.
I'm not expecting any icepick highs on my incoming Friedman Marshall.

I have too much money wrapped up in Monster Cables to switch... unless a company trades for a competitors cable...

Here is my list:

2 21 foot Rock Cables
4 12 foot Rock cables
2 6 foot Rock Cables
2 3 foot Rock Cables
6 10 foot Rock speaker cables.
2 12 foot studio Pro 1000 speaker cables. These were expensive and sound great...but not much better than buying the spool cable and making my own speaker cables.
6 6 foot studiolink cables
200 feet of Monster speaker cable. I bough spools and made my own speaker cables. They actually sound very good (a lot better than lamp wire).

...and a few short Moster patch cables.
Impressive list. I always keep just enough on hand to get by
2 12 foot Rock
2 6 foot Rock speaker
3 Rock patch cables
1 15 foot standard monster mic cable
random lengths of PA speaker wire

Iwas just about to refit my entire rig with vovox sonorous and now I am thinking I'm going to go with the colossal. Check out the videos they have on their website, anyone can hear the difference in those videos.

I do play metal but I think I'm going for the modern classics. Id rather have a cable that doesn't add or subtract anything. I can cut fizz or add bass at the amp.

I've heard the Broolyn's are thicker sounding. It's a great cable, too. I like it a lot. Would love to try a Modern Classic to compare.

So I'm waiting for my modern classics to arrive. I ordered enough to rewire my entire rig (monster rock) and also ordered the colossus speaker cable. Ill post my review for you guys once I put them through the paces .

I bought a 12' Monster Rock cable about a year ago. I like it alot, great quality, sounds great.

I use Monster Jazz for my signal chain to my amp and love them. A little more articulate then the Rock version, IMO. I have Monster Standards for the effects loop and Monster speaker cables for my cabs. LOVES them.

Plus they're really durable; I've only had 2 or 3 go now over the last 10 years, all easily replaced...

zaolla

only cable where I hear a huge difference
I agree, I can only tell a difference from high end cables. There are slight variances with all that have been mentioned, but Zaolla, VoVox, Van de huls really make a difference. I like van de hul, but they are just so damn expensive. If you never tried these cables and don't want to pay crazy prices, never try them you cannot miss what you never heard. The variances I have notice are simply brighteness variations. On the higher end cables, it's like taking your earplugs out big difference. Currently, I use a Fulltone cable. I like it alot. When I win the lottery then I will get some Van de Huls. Hell I can't even find them cheap on Evilbay.

I've been using Proco's my whole playing life. I have a couple of spectraflex's too.

GC has a cool Proco pack right now. It's a couple of long guitar cables (not sure 10-12 feet I think.) A handful of patch cables and a speaker cable. It's like $50 but it's not online, It' in the buyer's guide. I think I'm gonna pick one up and just leave it in the trunk of my car. I'll have all the spare cables I need all the time.

+1 for Canare GS-6, best all around cable that I've tried, durable, quiet and pleasing to the ear. Most of the more hifi cables I've tried are far too bright at high volumes, with that said I just bought a Zaolla cable because the price was stupid good and it's not bad, I still like my canare better.

Instrument: Colossal Modern Classic
Speaker : Evidence Siren II
