I have one of these Music Zoo natural Koa's and its set up with a Hum and one single.

Charvel_San_Dimas_Koa_HS_FR_C8800_1.jpg

that is actually pretty much exactly what i want

exclusive charvel builds - a shame it'd cost around 2k euros to get that over here/shipped

You could probably build something similar for half of that. You can pick up a production Charvel neck off Ebay. (the TMZ's have awesome birdseye maple necks) A body with whatever wood/ finish you choose from Warmoth or someplace else. Floyd,Pups ect. off Ebay.

yeah buying essentially the parts seems increasingly like a good idea, probably get a decent looking/playing guitar with the bits i want out of it as well

i'll see how this rgr works out, for which i might replace the trem if it is indeed as dire as people say it is (edge 3..) maybe when i have the money to invest i'll do it properly =0

those suhrs look great as well, didn't know they did them

That's my favorite pickup config. I went from this:

to this:

now that's what i'm talking about =0

did you need to cut a pickguard yourself? can't really seem to find one online

the satch model ain't bad, but i'm not a big fan , really want a maple neck

I have always loved the H/S set-up and did the same thing with my So Cal. Warmoth pickguards fit. You just have to shave a little of the pickguard off where it slides under the neck.

My favorite Super Strat set up....

Same here even if most of mine have a hum in the neck.

put coil taps in and get the best of both worlds! ( probably already do.)

Gibson did with the v-90 for a couple of years and the suhr tele I have coming is set up this way.

I think Ibanez got the idea for the RG565 from this guitar they made for me in 1988, it also appears I was ahead of the curve with the direct mount humbucker which they didn't use until 92 I think. I spec'd out the whole guitar based on my RG550 crossed with a Jem... It has a Jem style jack location, Jem style neck heel, Ebony board with binding, I had my name inlaid like their other signature guitars (Benson, Holdsworth, Lukather) slanted the single coil like Jake E Lee, direct mounted the humbucker in tribute to EVH, reversed headstock in honor of Jimi Hendrix, it had a HS-3 when new (nothing in there at the moment, and it is a PAF Pro (which is fucked up from string damage. I am getting some new pickups and resurrecting this bad boy. The color is called Five Alarm Red which is hard to capture accurately.

Killer guitar Mike...I don't think I ever noticed the direct mount humbucker before. What's it gonna take to resurrect it?

just 2 pickups, and a mini switch and not being lazy! i hate fucking soldering.

i wish i could save the bridge pickup since it is original and the coils are faded, but i guess dimarzio doesn't do rewinds... hmmm maybe i can get Blucher to do it for old times sake...I might not even like the PAF Pro anymore I can't remember!

The PAF Pro is hit-or-miss with me...sounds awesome in my blue Jem but more often than not I don't care for it (it can be kinda nasally sounding). That said, if you get somebody to do a rewind, you can do pretty much anything you want. What's going in the neck?
