I sold this guy my JVM205H. It was working flawlessly, and didn't even have a scratch on it. In addition, it has new JJ KT77's that I personally installed and biased. He sends me this today after having it a week:

Note from buyer: Hello Gear Locker - thank you for sending me the JVM205. The physical condition of this amp is excellent. However, unfortunately it is not functioning anywhere near excellent condition. It is not usable without several areas of repair needed. The first issue is the clean/crunch channel - the the green mode has super amplified volume, the orange mode is inaudible until you turn the volume all the way up and then it gets to about a bedroom level, and the red mode seems about fine. At a minimum the orange mode is unusable without having the circuit board repaired. Also, the switching between green and red is unusable because of the massive over-amplified volume level in the green mode. Second, the overdrive channel has massive humming in orange and red modes - it's unusable noise. It is overwhelming with the volume at bedroom levels and entirely intolerable at performance volume. Overall, I'm highly disappointed as I did a lot of research and this is the exact 50w amp I wanted. Unfortunately, this one is clearly NOT in excellent condition. It would need significant repair to at least re-bias the tubes to hopefully reduce the static, but more concerning it seems to have actual circuit board issues in the clean/crunch channel. This amp is in fair condition from a usability standpoint. I am requesting a full refund, as I was expecting an amp in excellent condition. Thanks, -Chris

This is user error.. He obviously doesn't realize there's (2) master volumes, mode assignable, and after his "research", didn't know they have extreme amounts of gain, and noise as well, that a noise gate fixes.. I hope Reverb has my back, this is completely bogus.

Sounds like its his first tube amp. lol

You are getting played; and I'm sure it isn't his first rodeo. Sounds very similar to the Marshall VM I sold on eBay way back, before I was on RT..he wanted some money back for 'repairs' he said it needed...then I noticed he had my same amp I sold him for sale from him on eBay! Yeah sure it doesn't work right...fkn clowns.

Good luck man...to many damn scammers out there.

Yep. This is why I'm not gonna sell anything big anymore. Too much douchery. Only small stuff. Anything big they need to check it out in person and play it. People just want to try your shit out and then get their money back

I’d tell him to leave negative feedback and fuck off. I don’t care anymore.

What a scumbag. I hope Reverb has your back, bro.

Well, he has 7 transactions on Reverb, I have over 200, all 5 stars as a seller. Ain't my first rodeo either. This is pretty cut and dry. He doesn't like the amp, and alot of user error and ignorance. It ain't gonna fly with me, and if Reverb sides with him, I will fight it until the end, including closing my account, and being done with it.

The scumbag is just trying to pull an easy one on you.
That happened to me once and I’ve contacted reverb and explained the situation and they’ve got my back.
That’s why we pay so many fees there... to be protected. And they will protect you if you’re right. And in your case, you are right.

You can't contact reverb anymore. Etsy owns it now. There is absolutely zero reverb customer service. They removed all forms of customer service AND increased the payout fee to 5% of sales all in the name of profit.

There is no sense in fighting it. Just take it back, shipping is on his dime and resell it.

Sucks but unfortunately this is the new "Amazon" I can return anything reality we live in now.

I sold a bass cab on Facebook marketplace a couple weeks Back. Met the guy , brought my bass head and just ran a pre recorded bass track through it to show that all was good.

Next day he contacts me and says I ripped him off and that the tweeter was blown. He sends me a video and I can clearly hear that he was distorting the Input on his old POS bass head. He had previously been using a cab with no tweeter so he never heard that high frequency distortion before. I tried to explain this to him and said he could turn the tweeter off if he wanted it to sound like his other cab .... and he didn't get it.... shoot me ...

So I tell him to meet me and bring the cab , I bring my bass and head and plug in and of course no issue.... he then changes his tune and says "yea mannnnn its just not like jiving with MY sound mannnn."

I gave him his cash and took the cab and told him thanks for wasting my time...

People suck !

I’ve contacted them less than two weeks ago about a payment.
How long ago have they cut every form of communication with the outside world?

Regardless you will probably lose, especially if it went through Paypal, but fight it and drag it out as long as possible.
I had a same situation and I drug it on as long as possible before Paypal decided in his favor of course.

He had to wait three weeks after he sent it back. I filed a seller dispute that he did not return it in the same condition as sent. They always side with buyers. Ebay admitted it was a clear case of buyers remorse.

I set my days to return to 1 day.
"Returnable within 1 days of delivery."

Well, supposedly, it goes through Reverb, even if PayPal is form of payment. The seller is actually Reverb, rather than me peronally. He has to file a claim against them, and they're supposed to be my advocate.

It's all just gotten too much. These days, the only way I will sell anything is if someone has cash in hand. I look them in the eye, shake their hand, all deals final.

I will only buy on those venues. Never sell. Sellers have zero rights anymore unfortunatley.

I usually trade my used gear for store credit at my local guitar shop. Once in a while I'll buy/sell/trade an amp/guitar with a forum member here or on the guitar gear forum, but only if they are regulars that I have known for years. No selling on ebay or reverb.

Can you offer to help him via phone call or facetime? Then he can demonstrate exactly what he's talking about and you can hear it. I would pursue something like that...try to get him to prove it to you. See how much he squirms.
